Are the any tutorials for ZiPhone?

Ok it seems that ZiPhone is the best and most proper way to Jailbreak 1.1.3, but I can't find anything about what to do with it.

Sure you have the GUI interface, but is there a tutorial on exactly what all the proceedures are...like what process for updating firmware, what to do before you jailbreak, how to install Installer....SSH....etc....

I looked all around the Author's website and all he has is the different versions to download, but he doesn't go into what exactly ZiPhone actually does, and how should we use it.

I just feel I am missing something here. Is there a guide on how to use it?

There have been about 10 posts today, by myself outlining in this forum how to use it properly.

Ok I have read al the threads on here and still don't have all the answers yet.

For starters, what firmware should you start off with? Currently I have a 1.1.2 OTB jailbroken.

Should I upgrade to 1.1.3 first through itunes, and then do a restore to 1.1.3 in DFU mode?

All the stuff people are talking on here is fine, but no one mentions the starting point.

1) Doesn't matter, 1.1.3 dfu restore gets you where you need to be.

2) Negative. Just DFU restore to 1.1.3, once, done. Did I mention RESTORE?

Just follow this to the letter...

its so easy......
1. DFU restore to 1.1.3 - Plug phone into computer, hold both home and power buttons down. After 10 seconds you will see screen go black and once apple logo reappears, let go of power button but keep holding home button. After about 15 more seconds itunes will open and say it has found an iphone in restore mode. Hold down shift and click "restore in itunes" and find the 1.1.3 software (download it to your desktop beforehand). Let itunes restore to 1.1.3. Once it is finished, close itunes. Open up ziphone 2.2 and run the ziphone GUI (looks like an ipod logo). Click on jailbreak activate and unlock and press start. 2.5 minutes later your phone will restart and everything will be done.

Pop your SIM card back in (I would advise to have it out during the restore/unlock process). Install BSD subsystems and ziphone ibrickr fix via installer. For the ibrickr fix you will have to add i.unlock.no as a source in installer.

Check if your ipod/ringtone, etc sounds are working....if not, go to setting and RESTORE ALL SETTINGS. This will fix the issue.

zibri really has made it as easy as possible for us.

Do you really need the BSD Subsystem installed? I never had it installed on my 1.1.2 JB cause I never had a need for it. No need to install it if I don't need to.

Also when it says to install SSH, well the only SSH in Installer is OpenSSH, which doesn't leave an icon on the screen like it did on 1.1.2.

And when I run the commandline for Ziphone to put it in DFU mode, the screen doesn't go blank like it said in those instructions and I still have the USB icon on the screen even though ziphone says it is in DFU mode. Does that sound right?

just use the ziphone 2.2 gui and select jailbreak or whatever you want and run it....it will work.

what exactly are you trying to do? just jailbreak?

Yes that is it. I just want to jailbreak it so I can use Summerboard and Customize. I do use a program called IphoneList to access the file system so I can change the default sounds for text and mail with my own.

That is why I wasn't sure if I needed the BSD Subsystem installed.

I gather I need the OpenSSH installed to access the file system through IphoneList though.

just do a DFU restore to 1.1.3 (I posted how to do that on a few other posts). Once you have done that, open ziphone 2.2 and run the gui. click on jailbreak and run the program. customize didnt work for me when i upgraded today however summerboard did. bsd subsystem is required for many of the 3rd party apps found on installer....its only like 5mb in size
