Localisation on the iPhone

Previous software versions on the iPhone had many hard coded applications which
contained many Americanisms (as this was the first market the phone went on sale).

For example, when you made a call, the iPhone will put brackets around the first 3
digits of your dialled number, Example: (019) 051-2345 because the American
phone formats are different to ours.

Also a related problem to this is a standard phone will not recognise the CLI (Caller
Line Identity) number in the UK, so your call lists will only contain numbers, the
name lookups from your contact list will fail.

The Carrier settings screen also had settings hard coded based on the AT&T
network. So for example pressing 'Phone Balance' option would fail because the
phone tried to use the AT&T codes instead of your own carrier codes.
