BEST way to get ringtones on Pearl 8130(i did search)

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

yes, i have searched 1st and i see that there are several different methods.

so, what the best way to put them on my pearl 8130(w/ sprint)?

should i a)just use the editing program on the media manager section of desktop manager, make the ringtone, and then transfer it to my pearl using the USB that came in the box?

b) buy a card reader, use Wave Pad(which i have) to clip my mp3 files, and then load the ringtones to the microSD card and then put the card back in the phone. Will my BB recognize which files are meant for ringtones and which ones are for regular music?

c)a better suggestion anyone else has?

some side notes: i really don't need a 6 or 8GB card. i just want my card to be able to be able to hold 15 or so, 30 sec ringtones and 20 or so pictures that i take from my phone, a 1 or 2 GB should do it right?

also, i don't want to d/l OTA because i have a lot of specific songs that i like certain parts or verses of?

last, on my phone i have 4.3 OS or whateva and windows xp on my comp, which is almost 2 yrs old if that makes a difference.

any help i appreciated thanx.

If you have unlimited data, or a good portion of data www.tuneusin.com
Giant selection of ringtones. Ususally i go on my PC, write down the ringtones I want and where they are, then go on my phone to get them.

that sounds ok, but i have specific verses of songs i like, that may not have necessarily been hit singles or well remembered, just my fav tracks from a cd.

what i do on my curve is clip the songs i want on AudaCity, then bluetooth them over from my laptop.

THe best way for you is not the best way for everyone. Most people prefer to get the ring tones/music on a microSD card somehow., either by RIM Desktop Manager or Windows drag/drop, or removing the card and usign a USB reader. It matters not. if you have a tool to edit/cut MP3's you know how you use, use it. A 1GB card is plenty if you don't plan to put full songs or movies on it.

I just plug in my curve, goto my computer and put them in the ringtones folder.

I'm not sure what the logic of pulling out a card and putting it in a reader is... seems retarded to me as the BB is like a card reader with mass storage turned on....except you dont have to pull the battery out and bother taking out the card and doing all that **** every time you want to put a simple file on your phone...

To answer your question when you plug it in and goto "blackberry" on my computer then there is a ringtones folder, if you put htem there it will know they're ringtones.

And I use audacity to cut as well.

8130 = external microSD hot-swapable
Data transfer is quicker w/ reader vs. Desktop manager

For (15) 30-sec audio files, I wouldn't bother.

1) format SD card in BB
2)close DM (important)
3) connect with USB cable to your computer
4) windows window for mass storage device will pop up
5) copy ringtones to mass storage device/Blackberry/ringtones

music to
/Blackberry/music
pictures to
/Blackberry/pictures
videos to
Blackberry/videos

give it few minutes for Blackberry to update whatever playlist

done

the answer is "yes"
no need to use DM, card reader or anything else.

Ringtone creation is an artform
Everyone can do it but not many do it well
Using Audacity is an excellent start though

I am the ringtone master
Ive put ringtones on any and everything except Sidekicks

Heres my method
Atomix MP3 (its a dj turntable type software)
I load my mp3 here turn the bass all the way down
turn mids and highs all the way up
Play the song, rrecord to a wav file
Always record more at the beginning and more at the end than i want
After i record it
i open up Adobe Audition 2.0
I use audition to trim the excess from front and back
Then save to an MP3 at 48kbps
Then use the desktop manager to move it to my phone
I will post 2 tones the same to show the difference

PS: a ringtone should be less than 300 kb
A 1gb card 1024 Mb
1 Mb is 1024 kb

i have a 2gb card I have a whole season of boondocks
The kim kardashian sex tape
All of beyonces music videos
Over 100+ ringtones
6 full mp3 albums
And over 100+ pictures on it
And i Have 375 MB free

For basic ringtone editing you can use online editor http://makeownringtone.com
Obviously doesn't do as much as Audacity but for online tool it's very good.

wow are u compressing the files or something?

and is ya bb running fast still?

For individual ringtones you can send them via bluetooth. Just go into Media --> Ringtones. Then hit the menu button and choose Receive using bluetooth. This works for all the options under Media. A quick and fast way if you want bluetooth something over to your phone.

Whatever works best for you. I personally prefer Mass Storage Mode as Media Manager is a bloated app, IMO. I can just copy files very quickly to the microSD card without removing it. YMMV.
