How do I Get MP3 to Ringtones on the w580i

so i just bought this phone(w580i) and so far i love it but lets face it the preloaded ringtones are TERRIBLE so....

i was wondering if there was a way to convert the songs on my pc to ringtones for the phone

i have windows vista <---- keep that in mind for any software i might need

please let me know if this is possible and if so

what will i need and how do i do it?

BTW i dont have the software that came with the phone because it is not compatible with vista :/

mp3s are the ringtone.. not sure what your asking about.

so ill assume you have rogers and cant use mp3s, so just download that software that lets you convert mp3 into some other format.. i cant remember the name lol

Easiest way? Memory card reader, put them on the memory card, then back to the phone.

Bluetooth dongle, send them via Bluetooth.

If your phone is Rogers branded, you will need to search for the DRM packager. If it is AT&T branded, make them under 300kb. Or, you can debrand it, and then use any size mp3 ringtone.

it is rogers

DRM packager???

do i have to pay for that ?

i dont get it..... is there a tutorial?

or simply update the appropriate section of the file customize.xml using XS++ or FAR manager. You can also just create an Customize_Upgrade.xml and copy it to tpa\preset\custom (instead of obtaining and modifying a correct customize.xml from the custpack). While you're at it, you can enable tech-mode, reinstate data counter, supress camera sound, pre-configure WAP/MMS, etc., etc.

Debranding is always an option! It's somewhat a hassle, but you won't regret it.

I usually email them to myself as an attachment. Saves mucking around with trying to connect other ways.
