Going over the firmware versions on Divinci team I have noticed finding a generic is more difficult then i assumed.

Bottom line I am looking to get MP3 abilities.

Correct me if im wrong as well but after unbranding I will still have my unlimited data options once I resend the settings from the SE site correct? Vision I dont really care about.

Has anybody gone this route and been happy?

It wont affect the unl rogers internet thing (yes you will have to resend the settings)..

What MP3 stuff are you looking for? What did they remove from the phone?

Rogers removed the ability to use MP3's as ringtones so you have to use the DRM Packager and transfer them over in a slow and painful process, you also lose the ability to have them nicely setup in folders as they will only transfer to the root folder.

It is however rather hard to find a generic FW, I have tonnes of Divinci credits its just about finding what would be the best one to go with.

I think theres suppose to be a big update coming out soon..

Might want to join the waiting game b4 you waste credits.

Yes I have, all 400 posts odd of it hahah
the upside is that if SEUS lets out an update I can use the free service to get the update then from the generic.

On my 810i I flashed generic then went to SEUS and updated the Firm with a higher level generic, are you saying I cannot get an update from SEUS if im using Generic?

no. you will get generic updates through seus as long as its a full debrand...

I see what your saying so if i flash with a customized I cannot update through SEUS, makes sense.

I would have to find a generic flash instead of a custom correct?
Why cant this be easy like the old series LOL

Flashing generic FS and FW w/ cust file wont do the trick... SEUS looks at that info plus the CDA -- If it see's something off it wont update...

So what's best generic firmware for Rogers/North America? I have got to get the Rogers firmware off my k850.

Any guides/tutorials you guys can point me to on how to flash the firmware?

i just took a chance and rolled with it. i went through totalgsm, which is kinda like an agent of seking by my assumption. anyway, i just picked a random k850 firmware and chose central europe as my version/language pack. everything works great, mp3's and all. and there is so far no way to flash a2 se's 'at home' as of yet, unless you buy a box but then it's just cheaper to pay to have it done.

i debranded my phone yesterda via davinci team, after reading on the board a bit, a few of the most up to date ones are these two:

if you choose the EUROPE - 1206 0082, that one will work fine, but you will not be able to get Name display ( which displays the names of people that you dont have saved in your phonebook, kinda like a landline callder id system), but that version is pretty much bug free other than that.

then there is a GENERIC - USA firmware, which allows you to have the Name display function, but it has a theme reset bug, in which your theme gets reset every now and then when you restart the phone.

i ended up using the generic usa, because thats what suited my needs!
