htc touch screen broken? NEED HELP :)

i have no clue how this happened..
theres no visible cracks
touchflo works
theres just these lines coming down and the screen is duller

any thoughts? do i need a new screen is this salvageable?

Good news is that the screen is not cracked and this is something that "should" be covered by warranty. I say should for most manufactures are trying to cut corners in warranty costs lately and bending the interpretation of the warranty rules. So far, Ive seen 3 major companies bend this on me randomly. Either the circuitry in the LCD is shot or display chip on mobo is. I do trust you did a hard reset to see if it goes away already.

if by mean hard resert pressing that button near the input for the charger yea... or is that the soft reset... ? thanks for your help man.

Its the combination of power button and the reset button. It will prompt to nuke your data if you did it right.

Well it means you need a replacement LCD or the mainboard is shot. If the mainboard is the cause, then the whole phone has to be replaced. Looks from your pics you can contact Vodophone or HTC for warranty support, these phones have at least a 1-year warranty. If you have warranty still, Id recomend going that way since a trail-n-error LCD replacement is pricey.

Mine just did the same thing Sunday. It looked much worse though. I know exactly what I did, I put the seatbelt on across the screen. I took it to my local Sprint store and they replaced it. They gave me the box and all the hardware and everything. I have yet to have that bad experience with Sprint customer service that everyone talks about.
