ziPhoning a new OTB 1.1.3, establish with iTunes?

When opening a brand new out of the box iPhone to unlock using ziPhone, should one establish the relationship with iTunes or just connect it and start the ziPhone process?
Reason I ask is because I read something about issues when connecting to itunes and something about creating a new profile when there is a current profile...something like that...

I was on Zibri's IRC channel (ZiPhone creator) and people in there said to not connect to iTunes if it's brand new out of the box. Do all your things on ZiPhone first then connect to iTunes to sync.
