I went to New account to sync my email to my phone.. and entered everything in for Gmail.. but as soon as I tried to retrieve my mail, it said, connecting.. logging on, then Incoming server, and made me enter my password in again..

Username:
Password:
Domain (if necessary):

and then when I enter my password, it just keeps doing that over and over. Help?

Delete that account on the phone, and enter it again. Make sure the password is correct and check the box next to "save password".

Windows 6 should automatically detect the settings, if not you can google "gmail servers" and manually do it.

I use:
incoming server: pop.gmail.com
outgoing server: cwmx.com

First you need to configure GMail to send email to you POP account.
You can go here for directions directly from GMail or follow the directions below.
1. On your PC. Point your web browser to your web based GMail account. Make sure you are logged in.
2. Click on Settings.
3. Click on Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
4. Click on either of the two "Enable..." choices in the POP Download: section.
5. Select what you want your GMail account to do after it sends the e-mail to your POP client in part (2) of the POP Download section. I selected "keep GMail's copy in the Inbox" so I can read full HTML messages when I get back to my PC.
6. Since we are configuring the Blackjack II to access your GMail account through POP mail, it does not matter what you select for IMAP Access.
7. Click on "Save Changes".

On the Blackjack II
1. Go to "Messaging".
2. Go to "New E-Mail Accounts" (D).
3. Enter your GMail address.
4. Check "Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet".
5. Hit Next.
6. After you get the message "Auto setup found settings for gmail.com" hit next.
7. Enter in your name.
8. Enter in an "Account display name".
9. Hit next.
10 Enter in your gmail email address in the "User name:" section. It may be prepopulated with an address with the prefix of "recent:".

If you're accessing your Gmail using POP from multiple clients, Gmail's recent mode makes sure that all messages are made available to each client, rather than only to the first client to access new mail.

Recent mode fetches the last 30 days of mail, regardless of whether it's been sent to another POP client already.

Once you enable recent mode, please be sure to configure your POP client to leave messages on the server according to the instructions in step 17 below:

11. Enter in your GMail password.
12. Hit next.
13. Select the amount of time you want this account auto updated in the "Automatic Send/Receive:" section.
14. Click on "Review all download settings".
15. Check both the settings you see there to your liking.
16. Next click on "Advanced Settings:".
17. Configure that section to your liking. Pay particular to the setting labeled "When deleting messages:"... This tells the POP client on the Blackjack II what to do when you delete messages off the Blackjack II. If you are going to access your GMail on something more than your Blackjack II such as your web browser or another device, select "Keep them on the server".
18. Click Done.
19. Click Next.
20. Configure the next screen to your liking. I selected "HTML" and "Entire message".

You should now be configured to receive e-mail, but you can not send just yet. In order to get there, you need to perform steps 12 and 15 below.

If you are having problems go back and check all the settings as follows:
1. Go to "Messaging".
2. Highlight the account you just created.
3. Click Menu.
4. Click Settings.
5. E-Mail address should indicate your current GMail address. Click Next.
6. Your Name should display the name you want associated with this account. Click Next.
7. Incoming mail Server should read pop.gmail.com
8. Account type should be grayed out but should say POP3. Hit Next.
9. User name should have your Gmail address. See step 10 above with respect to it saying "recent:".
10. If you told it to save your password, the password would have some ****** in it. Hit Next.
11. Outgoing (SMTP) mail serve should read smtp.gmail.com
12. Check "Outgoing server requires authentication".
13. Check "Use the same name and password for sending e-mail".
14. Click on Advanced Server Settings.
15. Check "Required SSL for Outgoing e-mail.
16. Hit Done.
17. Click Next.
18. All the other settings should be the same as you originally configured them.

Blackjack I running wm5 gmail may not work. You didn't mention which model you were trying to use it with. I had the same problem with mine and a friend who bought his blackjack around 5 months later his gmail works fine.

I'm having the same problem with getting my POP3 email, its just not gmail, and I'm running WM6. Anyone have any ideas what the problem is?

I'm having the same issues with pop3 mail working on the client end of the BJ II. I have tried all of what is being stated, but I think it has to do with Windows moible not allowing user to specify the TLS and SSL port settings as well. Grrrr....

I've had no problems on my BJ1 and WM6. Just used the 'Auto configurator' that comes with WM6. When I was with WM5 I had (and still have) Yahoo Mail Plus, so I popped in the POP3 settings and they worked fine. What I found out when looking in settings now, though, is that Yahoo etc. uses IMAP settings to download your E-mail, you don't even need to pay for POP3 access. I know because I am now using two accounts on the BJ, one Plus account, one basic free account (similar to free Gmail account, also on the phone). I'd do as previously suggested, delete everything and start again, using the auto configurator.

FYI, under Incoming Mail server, I have: imap.mail.yahoo.com (IMAP4 type)
Outgoing: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com (checks on both server authentication and use the same name and password)(Nothing checked in advanced settings).

Of course, GMail is a lot simpler with pop.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com. The rest is the same.

Now if anyone does have a few issues with getting their Gmail downloaded, see if they can download Yahoo! Mail to the phone, then setup Gmail to be forwarded to Yahoo! (in Gmail's web interface options page) and one can thus receive their mail this way. Sounds complicated but once set up it's good to go.

Hope that helps any.
