I'm surprised not to see much discussion about Usenet on the iPhone, but I'm curious if anyone has tried the iNewsGroup package?

Forgive my newbishness with the iPhone, I just got mine on Saturday, and jailbroke my 1.1.3 with ZiPhone. I'm attempting to make my internet addiction a bit more mobile, and Usenet access would help a lot.

I found iNewsGroup to be extremely responsive over Edge, which is a bonus. The interface needs a bit of work, like threading view, and perhaps the ability to links to the browser/youtube/googlemaps applications.

My real problem though, is that I cannot post from iNewsGroup. Has anyone else had this problem? I can follow posts, and it keeps track of what I've previously read great. But I can't reply or create a new thread. Just gives an error message.

I guess I'm just wondering if there is something I need to fix on my phone to get it working, or if the program is just not up to snuff yet.

I posted my problem in the "Issues" section for dtztech in Google Code, but there has been no response from the author.

3 months later I finally got around to playing around with ssh and I found that if I execute iNewsGroup from the computer over ssh, I can post just fine. Could this be a permissions problem? I changed everything in the iNewsGroup folder to 777 and it still doesn't work... but I have to admit I don't really know what I'm doing in there.
