(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Recently a friend showed me his hacked his LG phone to use the Verizon EVDO data network without paying for the data plan. He says it only uses minutes. Then he pairs the phone with his labtop via bluetooth and has internet.

Is is possible to hack my Verizon v3c to do the same thing? I want to pair it with my labtop via bluetooth. Thaks.

Do a bit of lite reading:

Also, there's a search button in the upper right-hand side of every HowardForums web page; I recommend trying it out.

So I got my phone attached to the computer created a new deal up connection:

Number: #777
Username: mynumber@vwz3g.com
Password: VZW

But when it dials it fails when authenticating. Any ideas?

I don't think the password is caps. Try just vzw. Also check and make sure you are typing vzw and not getting the letters mixed up, like vwz, wzv, etc. Also make sure verizon hasn't disabled tethering on your account for some reason.

Did you call verizon CS and make sure that internet was enabled on your account?

Yeah, I have an idea... do a little more reading.

you must EITHER 1. 'hack' NVM_Factory file on the phone and use EVDO or 2. use ONLY PAP authentication while forcing your phone to 1x by disabling EVDO.
Keep in mind, that if you have one of the new Nationwide plans (if you established or changed plan after Nov 1), data usage costs $1.99 per MB unless you subscribe to the Vcast Vpack for $15 per month...

AND using an EVDO phone without subscribing to Verizon's $59.99 per month BroadBand Access plan is against VZW's TOS. So if caught, you could expect a Big Bill, service termination, etc.

For others here is great guide on doing the NVM_Factory hack to use your phone as a modem and use EVDO on Verizon.

http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...ght=NVM_Factory

I am having problems getting the value to stay in the phone though, reverts back to default after the phone reboots. I will reply when I get it all worked out.

Known issue when doing that on the V3C, V3M and E815. Please completely read that thread and you'll see that.

That is not the NVM_Factory file hack.. that is editing the tethered nai directly... and that trick is known to not work on the Moto E815, V3C or V3M. (and I pretty sure it still doen't work on the newer firmwares, but I haven't seen any comment)

WHile you can edit and appear to properly write the tethered NAI using QPST, it always resets to the default value on these model Moto phones...

SO editing the actual NVM_FACTORY file from the file system, OR Tweaking the windows DUN connection (which i've quoted) was the way around it.

If you really want a thread... READ -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/DUN.htm

which, for the E815, V3C/V3M (the text I quoted above!!) links you to -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/NoPapDun.htm which is compiled from info found in -> http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=901635 which DOES work on the E815, V3C and V3M. ( can attest to this, as I've done it on my E815, V3C, and my brother's V3M)

And for any of these phone based hacks, they need to be re-done every time you do a *228.
