But anyway, yes, I have one (a 16GB) and like it very much. I also have several other iPods so, for me, the touch fits a certain niche:

This could be a problem with my particular unit, but it flat out sucks when I am watching videos on it. If I am going to be watching something that I transferred over from itunes off my computer, I will turn the wifi off to save the battery. The longest time I have been able to watch a video on it was 2.5 hours. That was after a night of charging via my wall charger. I had nothing else on. Apple claims that it should get 5 hours, but in reality, not many things get the battery life projected from the manufacturer. But half that, I don't think thats acceptable. I know that video takes up a lot of juice, I used to watch videos on my Treo 750 all the time and most people know if they had ever own a 750, the battery is horrible since it is so small. I would easily be able to watch 2.5 hours of video and still have plenty of battery left to make calls. The ipod has a much bigger battery.
However when I am just listening to music, the battery life is much better than the 3.5 year old ipod I had been using. I love using safari on it since it is able to load some pages that my BB/Tytn II can't. Again, when using wifi, the battery drains pretty quick. Youtube can kill the battery fast as well. Since it is both video and wifi, I get about 1.5 hours tops when using that app. It may sound like I do not like it in this post, but I really do. The interface is intuitive, the screen is huge and the device itself is a good size. This is the first ipod that I have owned with a color screen, so that in itself is a novelty for me. Another reason why I wanted it is because it does have a spinning hd in it. My first ipod did and that went bad a little over a year after I bought it. At the time that I got this one, it had the biggest amount of flash memory out of all the flash based ipods and iphones. It still has the most amount of space in flash (32gig). If you wanted an ipod with most amount of flash memory, I would go for it. |
