Change IMEI

Simple question. Is it possible to change the IMEI of an iphone using ziphone? The earlier versions made it sound like it was possible, but in the read me for ver 2.4 it clearly says

Quote:
ZiPhone does NOT change the iPhone internal IMEI. It changes the baseband to THINK the imei is another one. No changes are made inside the SECZONE.

So yes or no? Is the GSM provider still able to see the original IMEI number or not?

Thanks

why would you want to change your IMEI? It's the phone's ID. I mean, I'd only ask this question because it seems like the phone might be hot? Changing the IMEI will do away with the orginal IMEI's history, etc.

Our GSM provider up here has a monopoly on the market so they are pretty much raping us on data (5cents/KB which is $1500/Gb). They now have a $7 unlimited plan, but the package is limited to phones sold by them.....which are all old and have pathetic features.

Basically we're trying to get a decent data plan

Look here if you want to know more

The baseband is what projects the IMEI to the GSM provider. It is a PATCH, so I'm pretty sure it wont last through a restore. But yes, they will get the edited IMEI, not the OEM IMEI.
