It worked fine, but this week the down button on the navigator stopped working. Palm customer support in the U.S. said that they can't help me -- I need to ship the phone to Europe for repairs. Palm EU says I need to ship it to the Czech Republic and that they can only mail the repaired phone back to an address in the European Union. So I'm going to have to pay a lot in shipping fees to get the phone fixed and be without the phone for a month, not to mention beg someone in the E.U. to accept the phone for me and send it to me in the U.S. once Palm has fixed it.
Also, if you buy the Centro from Expansys U.K., it ships with a U.K.-style power adapter with plug style that doesn't work in the U.S. That wasn't a problem for me since I was replacing a Treo that was stolen from me along with my whole purse, and I had the Treo power supplies/cables that work with the Centro also. If my phone hadn't been stolen I wouldn't have bothered to "upgrade". If your Treo works and you have no pressing need to get a Centro I'd advise waiting a year for the next gen phone. I haven't found that the Centro works any better. Yes, it's smaller and has squishy buttons and fits in my purse better. It still seems to crash just as much as my Treo did, the phone drops calls and the phone app sometimes exhibits strange behaviour even more than my Treo 680 did, like frequently not letting me access contacts in the middle of a call. With my small fingers I never had trouble with the keyboard but if you have large/fat fingers I'd definitely stay with the Treo. I am so tired of Palm and giving them second and third chances. I live only a few miles from the only Palm retail store left, at their headquarters in Sunnyvale, but you can't even get any information on their store location or telephone number or hours on-line. How pathetic is that? The retail store also doesn't carry any of the third-party accessories listed on their on-line store. I sure hope their upcoming new OS comes out soon and really is an improvement. If not I'm sure the company will be dead in a few years, especially as I've had nothing but lousy customer service from them in the past few years. I was unhappy with Windows Mobile, will probably switch to a Google Android phone as soon as they're available. |
