I believe you need to make sure that the phone has the latest firmware version, which I think is version 4 (or at least version 2).

I had this same question, so I'll just post here. My SW version on my enV says T99VZG02... I'm assuming this is V.2? Another thing, how could I have my phone updated to V.4?

If you look in the 9900 threads of interest in the verizon lg section, there's directions. If you're not having any problems, there's no real reason to update. You can also get your phone flashed free at a verizon corp. store.
V02 of the firmware supports a 4g card.

I'm using a SanDisk 4gb card in my enV without problems & am running V4.
