Who would get a new phone if the iPhone SDK dissapoints?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I know this was somewhat talked about in a previous thread, but I am interested in who would actually take the step to get a new phone if the iPhone SDK was a HUGE disappointment.

And which phone would you consider?

Hell no! LOL. I paid too much to get rid of my iPhone just like that...

I bought the iPhone on launch day, after a public statement, that it was a closed phone, and I've enjoyed it every day since, even with it's missing features and shortcomings. It's still the best phone I've used, so SDK or no SDK, I'm happy with it as it is.

Not me. I would like to have some better games than what are currently out there, but I'm satisfied.

I would imagine the sdk will be extremely boring personally. The apps developed with it on the other hand.....

*yawn*

Anyways, I don't know how it can disappoint... even if Apple goes crazy and forces developers to pay a license fee and make you charge for your app, I'm sure the dev team will find a way around it. Then we'd have better apps (because they'll be built with an approved framework for the most part) and an easier way to install them.

I'm hoping the apps are better than the web apps. I don't know if its due to edge, but those web apps aren't that great. I'm not gonna sell my phone regardless, but I'm thinking the sdk would rush att to release mms before a 3rd party does.

Not me. No way, no how. Day 1, I said that this is the phone I've been waiting 3 years for someone to deliver. I still say that.

Nothing surpasses it for my needs, SDK or not.

The Iphone should be the best on the market

There are limits with size of course but a lot lot more can be done right now also camera much better (limits to cameras too on mobiles cost etc I know I know)

Come on Jobby get your arse in shape for us consumers not your bank balance all the time

Be careful with answers like that! They might get you a "*yawn*" response!

Of all the phones on your list, the v557 is actually one of the best. It's ugly, and it has some software issues, but as far as call quality and durability, it's absolutely amazing. I work at Radioshack and when we had that phone I sold it the most, because we're in a weak AT&T area....and it was great. Unfortunately it's been disco, and now we're stuck with the STync

Yeah. The 557 is nice for when I go to the junkyard or working on my "Geek Toy" But for me the E6 is my favorite phone hands down.

I really need a good to do app for my school work.
Windows Mobile worked perfectly for that so I hope we'll see a good one when the SDK rolls out. :/

If not the 26th is the last day I can return my phone lol

I doubt one will be released the DAY of the SDK....what if the SDK comes after your time to return it? There are some programs on installer made exactly for that reason. I can't remember the exact source, but there's one called "Homework Agenda" and it's an app for tracking your homework assignments..

You should give it a try!

If anything I would possibly consider using my BlackJack II more often.

You will never be disapointed if you purchase a phone for what it can do now and not with the hopes of what it can do later.

Until I find a phone with as good a screen, form factor, and ease of use, I'm sticking with the iPhone, SDK or not.

Waiting for the purple one also hope they bring pink one out that sells pretty well to the female population

I got the iPhone knowing what features it lacked. If it never got any new features that would be ok. I don't remember ever having a phone that was perfect because obviously I would still be using it!
I wouldn't mind having a few games or the ability to receive an MMS, but that's not the end of the world.
I will be sticking with the iPhone as my main phone for quite a while!

Even without the SDK, and delay I have switched to a BlackBerry. It is a great PIM. Not for everyone. But it was what I need to get myself together.

I tried the iPhone yesterday again and realized within 6 hours that it was missing something that the BlackBerry provided. I used it for a full 24 hours and there was no question. I am back in the BlackBerrys arms. But there are still the third party apps for iPhone. Will I came back....we'll see.

well the phone is a great as is. I don't play games on this phone anyways so overall the phone for me is great. When the sdk cones out it won't make a difference to me honestly.
