Dash vs Centro

OK, this is not only a phone battle, but also a network battle...

What I need is not really a smartphone. It's more a phone+personal organizer-- I need the latter for keep me organized since I'm pretty much absent-minded. I can just sync at home-- I don't see the need for Wi-Fi or mobile Internet yet.

Pros:

Dash: Wifi, feels more compact, and HTC seemed to have a better reputation...

Centro: Touch screen; the Palm OS is probably more distracting that WM.

Cons:

Dash: T-Mobile has no service here (has to roam at I Wireless), and so no local phone numbers.

Centro: There's native Sprint service in here but... more blind spots than ATT and VZW-- that's my experience on Virgin Mobile though; heard that real Sprint can also roam with VZW and the blind spots are small.

Help me choose!!

How much do you anticipate to use data? If not very much, you could grab the Centro on AT&T. I'd recommend the Palm OS over Windows Mobile Standard for the ease of use and simplicity while maintaining advanced functionality, but not having a decent solution to high speed data on the Centro makes it a really tough choice (since spotty high speed data on Sprint is about as effective as good EDGE reception with AT&T). The Centro is also much newer, which earns it points in my book.

That's a tough call overall. Both are great devices.

As a matter of fact I won't be even using data packages.

I would recommend going with the centro on at&t as well, if you are not going to use the data package the centro is the better buy since it is only $99.99 with new service agreement, so that way you can get the feel of the smartphone and not have to drop two hundred or more dollars on your first one.

I would agree with what has been said here, the Centro is a good option. Don't get me wrong, the Dash is a great phone, but AT&T has a good price for the Centro and if you don't really want wifi there is no reason to pay extra (either in cash, or service quality) to get it.

Sign up with AT&T, get the best free or next-to-free phone, flip the phone on eBay, and get an unlocked Dash.
