Those are the two phones that I'm looking at. I'll be going with the Alltel U Prepaid plan. The main things I'm interested in are good call quality/reception, the camera, and the mp3 player. Most of what I know about the LG AX565 comes from looking at the LG Muziq, since they're apparently very similar.

Based on CNet, the Hue seems to take better pictures, although my friend has an LG Muziq, and the pictures he took with it do not seem to have the orange tint that CNet claims it has. One thing I'm wondering is: How does the "night mode" on the Hue do compared the one on the AX565?

As for the mp3 player, I like that the Hue has visualizations for the music, I haven't seen anything that says the AX565 does. But the fact that the AX565 has external controls and the capability to hand a 4gb card as oppossed to the Hue only being able to use 2 gb kind of puts the AX565 ahead here. I'd like to be able to put an mp3 as a ringtone, but I think both can do that. The AX565's FM transmitter seems cool, but I'd mainly want to use this in the car, and from what I've read, that might not be possible.

I like the look of the AX565 a little more than the Hue (mostly because it's black, not silver). Plus the AX565 has photo caller ID, not a big deal, but kind of cool. However, the AX565 would cost twice as much, which isn't a big deal if the phone is mostly worth the price . . .

Anyway, those are my thoughts so far, if anyone could add anything helpful based on their experience with the phones (or the LG Muziq, since the AX565 is pretty new) that would be awesome, as would any recommendations.

I absolutely love my AX565. I upgraded to it after my 8600 kept messing up recently. It's a great phone, especially for music. The outside controls can not only control all of your music, but read texts as well. Very convenient. Also, you can listen to music and minimize the player while texting, or doing anything else on your phone. The visualization for the 565 is basically just neon blue sound bars, but it still looks pretty cool. Also, you can have it change your background while listening to music. I've had no problems with the camera - it takes great pictures in little light, and the resolution can be fine tuned to take some really good pictures for a 1.3. I also used my 565 in the car today - the reception was fine - no static or anything. It also played my songs with great bass, etc. I'd highly recommend this phone.

Oh, I almost forgot... YOUTUBE! The 565 can stream all videos from YouTube, download images off the mobile web, and a lot more that the Hue doesn't offer.

But are you able to add your own ringtones, say from phonezoo.com to the AX565? I am seriously looking at getting one. I have the Muse, hate it for texting, but the rest is pretty good. And on the Muse, you can send pic messages with sounds and save and apply them as ringtones. Can you with the AX565?

As far as I know, you can't set a ringtone from a message. If you can get it onto your computer as an mp3, you can get it on your phone with BitPim, and set it as a ringtone, but I've never been able to do it from a message.
