i am new and i have been reading a lot about the iphone. i am on cingular and my contract has been expire. i know the iphone when you activate it, it will renew your contract for 2 years. i do not want that. i just want to keep on using cingular/at&t for another year without a contract. i know this would work with the activation hack but i am not sure what do i need to do?? jailbreak it?? unlock it?? i do not want to unlock it but if i jailbreak it, is that the same as unlocking it? another question i have... if i jailbreak it, would it void the warrntieee?? i know all these questions have been asked before and believe me when i say this... i search and search and i couldnt find anything. i am new to hf.com and i am still trying to find the right places for my answers

Are you planning to get an iphone or you have an iphone now? We need some more info.

You would need ziphone to jailbreak, activate your phone since you are an existing cingular customer.

i am planning to get an iphone. just waiting to see if the price drops or not. either way i am still going to get it. yes i am already an existing cingular customer and my contract is over. i do not want to renew. i just want to used it day by day until i am sick of cingular. now if i use ziphone to jailbreak it.... then activate it.. wouldnt that renew my contaCt? or ones i jailbreak it... i could just swap my old simcard in and i am good to go? also.. would that void the warnniteeee??

If u activate it,it will renew ur contract for 2 years.. Just Jailbreak it and use ur existing sim card.. U wont get Visual Voicemail thow.And yes if u Jailbreak it will void your warranty ..

if i have a problem with the phone, would i be able to restore to factory settings and go to apple for help??

You should be able to. Look around here for more info on jailbreaking and activating.
