I got it to work first try using Setool2lt.

Apologies for the newbie question, but what is the difference between custpack, main and FS? Is the latest version unlock-able and everything?

I just got my new w580i, so I'm on the unlocking process.

for unlocking, I think you would be better off by calling ATT. Tell them that you are going oversea for vacation. they should give you an unlock code. try during regular business hour, dont get the indian customer support, they will just brush you off.

Heres a question I think ALOT of noobs wanna know..

Just read the phone.. and it says R6BE001 as firmware.. (RED CID52)

Does it matter or not? to write R8BE001 ?? (RED CID52)

cause I think were all looking for R6BE001 and gettin no where finding it.

You can flash R8BE001 on it, not a problem

hey thanks for the reply... I successfully flashed R8BE001 to my phone.. works great no more branding.

lol Now im wondering if I can change it once again.. and to R6BE002??

only because I read a patch somewhere for taking the beeping off while recording a call.. ( not illegal.. cause I want it for recording my messages when i call into my voice mail.. "cause they only stay for 5 days.. or fill up my entire voicemail space"

anyone successfully get this patch running on their w580???
and if so, what firmware are you running?

Is this still the newest to date and what is the difference between Americas 1 & 2? Also what does it mean when the Main & FS have "Red" in the code?

So I flashed my w580i no problem, works great... here. But when I put in my SIM upon arriving in Honduras, it said, "please insert correct sim". I thought debranding is supposed to unlock it?
The sim is Claro, (formerly Alo, actual coorporation is Megatel, a mexican company). They span all of at least Central America, if not South as well. I've used the sim card with my w600, and motorolla and samsung phones in the past, no problems. All I can think of is it's still locked, or Megatel hasn't updated their permitted firmware, but that doesn't make much sense, they sell the w580 their, so shouldn't the "Americas" firmware work?
Any ideas?

Debranding is different from unlocking. Your phone can be debranded but still locked. Apply the patch unlock
