I have heard that at the end of febuary there is going to be a price cut for both the 8 and 16gb versions of the iPhone. Is this true.

Posted by: timmah333

Wow, now I see why people flame when others repost information that has already been posted..

NO ONE KNOWS.

Its his third post lol. Give him a break...

No one knows the answer to that question but Apple. And I doubt they will tell us :P

....sigh... which part of timmah's "NO ONE KNOWS" response, was not clear to you?

Regardless, here's all you need to know:

Quote:
Pricing

Should Apple reduce its price on any Apple-branded product within fourteen (14) calendar days of the date of purchase, you may request a refund of the difference between the price paid and the current selling price. An original purchase receipt is required, and you must request your refund within fourteen (14) calendar days of the price reduction.

I personally don't think there will be another price drop for a long time.

Posted by: Anisoul

What, do people post the SAME thing like once a week? This was already covered last week.

Posted by: XFF

It's pure speculation at this point, but in my opinion, the BOM and manufacturing cost of the iPhone combined with Apple's business model don't allow for a price drop at this time. Once production of the new 16 GB flash chip stabilizes and yield improves, I could see a modest drop in price and perhaps the discontinuation of the 8 GB model, but not for another 6-8 months.

Besides, right now the market bears the current iPhone pricing just fine, so there's little incentive to drop prices, even if it was economically feasible (which it isn't right now).

BOOM!

http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/18/...rice-drop-soon/

Much like the 4GB iphones that were discontinued, I highly anticipate that the 8GB iPhones will fly off the shelves @ $299...

And yes, I will get one.

again...

Still speculative.

Tons of people would buy the 8GB for $299. This would make a lot of sense before introducing a 3G model towards the end of the year. If they can install a large userbase, they would have the inroads for upgrades and another contract.

Posted by: GregGebhardt

According to ther people I know at ATT, the 8 or 16 model is not flying off the shelves, in fact they are selling somewhat slow.

I am betting on a price drop in March as we slide into a deeper recession

Posted by: Kadosh

Nice. I read somewhere that the production of iPhones has been reduced, indicating that the 3G version will be introduced. However, those Wall Street indicators for 2nd half of 2008.

Posted by: free_gas

I would gladly take a 4GB refurb for $199

I'm going to keep my eyes open and my trigger finger ready!

Posted by: GregGebhardt

A 3G version would warm up sales alot for a while.

Increasing memory from 8 to 16 gb, well the sales speak for them selves.

my gf is out of her verizon plan and wants an iphone so were wondering when she should get one.

Posted by: sparda753

Do you still think they will have a pricedrop on the iPhone? I have heard so many rumors on the internet that they are going to have a pricedrop at the end of feb.

Posted by: brealmp3

do you ever stop with these threads...

Posted by: payroll

No I dont think there will be. You can always just wait 10 years to buy an iPhone then it will be really cheap. Or you can stop being cheap and buy it and enjoy it before its outdated.
