I have read as much as I can on here and I think im even more confused. Ive been an avid blackberry user for many years and i think im ready for a change. I want a iphone. In a nutshell. If I buy one off the shelf tomorrow, can it be unlocked and used on tmobile. I know visual vm wont work but can I get everything else to work. Ive been reading about these unlockers and whatnot and still not sure exactly what to do. I keep reading about the different versions and some can work and some cant ie 1.2 or 1.3 or 1.4 and when apple made it. If someone can put it in plain english for me i would appreciate it. just in a nutshell explain what to do. If you are here to look at my post and put something about me not reading enough or any other negativity, please just not put anything. I am a 30 year old professional that doesnt have time to deal with crap. I have been on this site for years because of the great help i have gotten over the years, please dont spoil it now

Plain english:

First step - Buy iPhone

Second step - Remove from box and install itunes.

Third step - Download latest version of ZiPhone.

Fourth Step - Open ZiPhone program and plug in iPhone.

Fifth Step - Click on desired options in ZiPhone. In your case you would be Jailbreaking (Allows you/programs access to the iPhone file system), Unlocking (Allows you to use your TMobile SIM card), and Activating (Will allow you to skip the normal activation procedure that you'd do if you were creating an account with AT&T).

Sixth step - Wait about 3 minutes for ZiPhone to do its stuff.

Seventh step - You now have a fully functional, unlocked iphone. Plug in your TMobile SIM card and you're set.

After this you can start using Installer (program on the iphone that uses your home wifi network to download and install applications on your iphone) to install whatever apps you'd like.

Well i would suggest buying an iPhone ASAP because the new firmware 1.1.4 has just been released and that is not yet unlockable. So in order to try to get an iPhone with 1.1.3 (wich is unlockable) i would recommend going out as soon as possible to get one, because you can bet that the longer you wait you will have less chance of getting an old Firmware version phone.

The only other question I have is what internet email plan doi i need with tmobile. I would assume my blackberry plan will not work. Thanks so much for the help

just switch it to the 19.99 internet plan that you would use for the Dash or anyother smartphone for tmobile. when you get the iphone, click the settings<general<network<edge and then for apn setting type: internet2.voicestream.com and then leave username and password blank and it usually takes about a hour and you'll have a fully function internet with youtube working perfectly... at least thats the settings that worked best for me.

Do you mind me asking where you got this info? I happen to be typing this on an unlocked iPhone running 1.1.4.

To the OP: Dont worry, ZiPhone unlocks 1.1.4. Also, I would pit it in DFU mode and restore firmware 1.1.4 before I do anything. If you're unfamiliar with DFU mode, look at Drakkhens sticky. Good luck.
