> 1. Insert your non-TMobile sim card
> 2. The phone display says "Enter the code".
> 3. Press the "X" button.
> 4. You will see the menu.
> 5. Choose the left-up angle button.
> 6. Choose "setting"--->"network"--->"scan and select manually".
> 7. The phone will search for your network.

well to a degree it is you are using a different sim you cant use data so i think the last time i checked you might as well call it a unlock. unless your a dev and have a key then that would also be unlocking but for the ppl that dnt have dev keys its the next best thing

when i did this on my phone, it was able to call, but not text... so any help?
i don't care about Data services, i just want to be able to call and text

im not sure try it an tell us

I thought if you unlocked a Sidekick you could only use it for SMS and calls in the first place? I don't know what to tell you zong.

Dev keys don't carrier unlock the device. Stop saying that.

I tried it with an international SIM and it worked.

sms won't actually work because the device doesn't actually know that its connected to a network, it thinks that the SIM is missing, therefore you get the annoying dialog every time you try to send one.

so the best way to use Sidekick in overseas (non-U.S) is using those numbers to unlock it?
but without that number we can do the steps but it will operate for call only? what's another possible solution? i just need call and sms and that's it.
