Replacement of Installer.app (Search Feature in Installer!!)

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Add this source :http://apptapp.saurik.com/

and install Cydia Packager from the "System" category. (11 MB File)

This will totally redesign installer. It will add many cool feature like search.

Enjoy

You should get this notice when done:

WARNING: BSD Subsystem attempts to install broken versions of the same tools you might install via Packager. Do_not_upgrade BSD Subsystem now that you have installed Packager. There is no need to, as you can install anything BSD Subsystem provides using Packager. Instead, always upgrade to the package "_Fake_BSD Subsystem", to trick other packages into thinking it is installed

Awesome! Ive always wanted to be able to search for a particular cool app thats mention in a post or something i need to find...

Posted by: JEsTer10

This sounds pretty cool, thanks for the info. May have to give it a try tomorrow!

Posted by: cingular#1

The search feature works very well, immediate response!

Posted by: duceduc

It is alway good for a change.

Posted by: duceduc

Now the question is, would it work on 1.1.4?

Posted by: cingular#1

i would think so...

Posted by: duceduc

In any event. The "1.1.4 Compatibility Patch" will probably trick the installer app in thinking it is still on 1.1.3. I tried installing the 1.1.4 international keyboard but it says I need to be on 1.1.4.

I did, however installed the 1.1.4 Compatibility Patch.

awesome im installin on 1.1.4 right now, without the 1.1.4 compa. patch. i have a question, so now i dont need to update bsd subsystem anymore? i didnt get that part so well

Posted by: jackrussel32

it works fine on 1.1.4 but to be honest i dont like the way it works, how can i uninstall this? in installer it appears in the UNINSTALL tab but theres only option to "Reinstall", not uninstall

Posted by: krs71

when I try to install ispazio apps for 1.1.4, it give main error scripts message on installer, is there something I'm doing wrong?

what do you mean? just remove the .app itself from the applications folder? what about all the components and stuff it installed there... how do i get rid of that? or it didnt install anything other than the app? ill need to reinstall BSD SUBSYSTEM yea?

Posted by: dimaggi7

Is it possible to uninstall this?

In order to see the available apps, you must hit the refresh button on the top of the install page....

Posted by: jackrussel32

please somone, how can this be uninstalled? and since it messed around with BSD SUSBSYTEM, do i need to reinstall BSD?

Posted by: porkserver

good Post Cingular but man people!! if you dont understand BSD or have any Idea what Apt-Get is leave your iPhone in Jail and stop wasting peoples time. If you do not Like Cydia restore your iphone and break it with Ziphone and use the Broken BSD. I am constantly seeing people posting in the Hackintosh and iPhone forums that have no Biz dinking with this stuff. READ SOMETHING BEFORE JUST DOING MODS TO YOUR $400 PHONE

If Cydia has a search feature...and so does Installer, what's the point?

Posted by: duceduc

installer never had one until now with the new update from installer.

Posted by: Sesshoumaru

my cydia autocloses now... dunno if it was after installer update or for unknown reasons. and reinstalling it wont fix it

Posted by: oc12345

installer is way better than cydia..even before installer had the search feature ...way to go installer ...nice

Well, yea, that's the nature of evolution and competition.

Will it keep my Sources I have now? Or do I have to wait until they convert to Debian?

I wish installer's search feature was more like cydia's or cydia had ability to manually add sources. They are both great but I would rather cydia if it was'nt missing this all important feature.

Posted by: Fendushi

Yes, using the latest iLiberty+ installs this for you. The only downside is it can't add sources..... yet.

Still a great app!

Great news! My Cydia is working again after installing the Cydia manual refresher from installer. If yours is still crashing try this.
