Silent mode when connected to phone tools

I have a V3, and Motorola Phone Tools 4.5.6a.
Is there a way to have my phone switch to silent mode automatically when I plug it in to the USB, and then toggle back when I disconnect it?

no auto, always manually. its the firmware
