Yesterday I called ATT and ask them to unlock my Iphone becouse I m going to europe for thre weeks vacation an dI wanted to use an european sim card.The person that I spoke to told me tha she was to put the request and that I should getthe code in about four or five days. Today I received a call fron att and I was told that they can not unlock the Iphone. Is this true?

Unlock it yourself.

I wouldn't think they will give you the code anyways.

If you read ATT's disclaimers, they will unlock "most" phones upon request after a period of time, however iPhones are specifically excluded from being unlocked.

This is extremely common knowledge. I do not know if you were trying to pull a fast one on the customer service rep or you did not know that yourself.

Your best bet (if you truly just wanted to use an foreign SIM to save on roaming charges) is just to call ATT with any old Cingular branded phone and they will gladly give you an unlock code (usually within 1 business day via email).
