blackjack / Vista sync, where is my Data ??

Well I have set my phone to sync with Vista.. I did not know that you HAVE TO HAVE outlook installed. I did not change the default settings in the WMDC, and now I have NO contacts nor a calander! Any suggeestions. I have a back up but it is 2 weeks old.
