Downloaded, ran it , made ringtone, exported directley into iTunes, Sync'd up
set it for a contact and worked flawless

I had a few problems with iringer. I converted a few songs and they worked fine but some would only play maybe the first two seconds and then stop. When I previewed the ringtones they played the full length but after being sent to the phone I only got the short little bit.

Just out of curiousity - what's the difference with using this program when compared to just using iTunes to sync the ringtones onto your phone?

programs such as these just make it easier for the user. You load up your song, pick which portion you want played and push a button to create the ringtone. The program places the ringtone in the proper folder so that when you sync your phone the ringtone is uploaded.

But in iTunes, I just drag the m4r file into the ringtones section and then sync....I think I'm missing something here...this creates the ringtones for you?

Yeah but how do you get the m4r files? you add an mp3 to itunes and convert it to whatever they convert to, you then crop the file down to a 30 sec clip or something and then change the extension to the ringtone one m4r or whatever. These programs just do that all for you. Some will find them useful, others will do it the manual way, to each their own.

But, unlike the manual way, this requires you to be using Windows (not Mac).
The manual way has no such restriction (and can even be partly done by tools like Audacity that exist cross-platform).
