v3m cdma vzw bootloader usb init : need recover tips

my fiance's pink v3m, used Mark's tutorials & flashed

from stock vzw -> alltel (01.1a.00r monster) -- no mp3 player
from alltel -> vzw (01.05.0ap monster)
from vzw -> vivo (01.18.00r monster) -- mp3 player but data not working
from vivo -> vzw (01.19.05p monster)
from vzw -> vivo (01.18.00r monster) -- flash failed = bootloader usb init

tried reflashing to no avail -- always fails at group code 2 from 50% to 65%

i've got all of the tools Mark suggests in his tutorials.

here's the smooth move:
instead of waiting for vivo to be 100% flashed before setting to AIRPLANE MODE, i decided to put the vzw in STANDALONE MODE during the vivo flash. that stroke of brilliance inspired me to post here ...

any ideas? $25 goes to the lucky sole who saves my arse

still stuck at bootloader usb init screen.

Everything I've read in these forums suggest all is not lost if I can still see the bootloader usb init screen.

I've been trying to re-flash using different monsters.

So far, the closest I've gotten to a full flash are both the Cricket & MetroPCS monsters ... they both fail at 79%.

I'll keep trying to re-flash -- let me know if anyone has a better idea.

BTW, I also tried some of the GSM recover methods but Mark makes it clear these methods are useless on a CDMA phone.

What program are you using to flash? MultiFlashFlex or RSD Lite? Try both of them with as many different flashes you can find.

Posted by: pdxcentric

using both MFF & RSD still to no avail ... decided to download every monster i can find and flash all of them forever and ever

Also try V3c monsters to at least get it up and running. Also try flashing using a different USB port, and a different computer if you can. Little things like that can make all the difference.

'just got to 92% before flash failed using the flash that came with the phone. it's not a monster, though -- so, probably pointless anyway. i'll try switching usb ports but this is the only winXP machine. i have a linux box & a vista box sitting next to it.

i'll keep going...

seems like part of the flash process is to restart the phone at some point before 100%. do you think this is true?

wondering if the phone just gets dropped cuz it's recognized as a motorola flash interface, and not a phone.

maybe i should try this on vista -- but i don't see why that'd be a smart move

okay, my fiance says I only have 24 hours left before she runs this phone over with her car. no joke. she's had it with my obsession over this piece of shia. i've only been messing around with it every night for a week. i don't get it :|

The last few percent is restarting the phone, but the phone would be fine and start even if you unplugged it before it got to 100 percent. For example, if the flash is on 97 or 98 percent, but the phone is starting up normally, unplugging it may result in a flash failed message on the computer, but the phone would be fine. The last "push" to get to 100 percent is the phone reconnecting to the computer after it has restarted. If you really want to get it working, you can ship it my way and I'll see what I can do with it. RSD Lite works on my vista desktop fine, but not on my vista laptop, so you could try it on your vista machine.

in the process of porting all the comm software over to vista, installing, then using RSD Lite to flash -- crossing my fingers

Posted by: pdxcentric

what RSD config settings do u use for CDMA phone flashes? i just have the 2nd option checked (default). i just tried RSD flashing a V3M monster -- FAIL.

now, i'm flashing a V3c monster ... we'll see we'll see ........

Posted by: pdxcentric

still failing ... now trying MFF on vista ....arrrrrgh

Posted by: pdxcentric

i'm tapped ... the errorlog files don't make any sense ... the phone should be able to recover. i don't have enough huftspa in me on this one. it goes in the trash tomorrow.

The phone was brick'd flashing from 01.19.05 -- STAY AWAY FROM THIS FIRMWARE VERSION!!!!

The phone is gone, now. "Bye-bye Mr. Phone -- bye-bye ......"

I have a motorola V3m and for some reason I am no longer able to access the metro web of metro pcs. I tried re-entering the subsidity or cdma code and the phone does not allow me to enter the code *74663#clrclr. Is there any other code they may have been changed or can someone give a quick lesson.

Do you mean the authentication key (a-key)? When I re-authenticated my phone, the verizon cust. service rep. told me to enter *74663#clrclr really fast, then she gave me a number to enter into the phone.

The second time I had to re-authenticated my phone, the vzw cs rep just did on his side of things.

I'm not sure how you'd go about forging an authentication. I'd just call your provider and tell them you can't make phone calls anymore -- ask them to fix it on their end.

You'll have better luck getting an answer in the metro pcs forum...
