MEW1 & Unlimited Text - Possible?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have the grandfathered MEW1 plan and always stayed under the 1500 included text, but now I'm in a situation where I see myself going over 1500 easily. I'd like to get unlimited text, and it looks like the only way to get it is to add-on the $20 plan. Does anyone know if there are any issues which might arise from doing so considering I already have a (old) plan which already includes text?

You cannot have conflicting messaging packages. Get the MEdia Net Unlimited for $15 and the Messaging Unlimited for $20.

Media net unlimited is not really unlimited

Do not give up MEW1

Another thing I thought of is that the person I'll be texting is on verizon, does at&t have the same clause for texting that it has for voice as far as using too much off network texting?

It is not where you send the message. It is what wireless network you are using when you send the message.

Are you referring to the softcap? If so does that not apply to mew1 as well?

The soft cap applies to official tethering which cost $30 extra for PDA or Blackberry data packages and to DataConnect cards. It does not apply to any other data package. Where do these urban legends start?

I'm on a family plan with 4 lines. My line has MEW1, and the other three lines are using more than $30 of messaging per month. Will the family messaging unlimited plan interfere with MEW1?

Correct, you can not have both MEW1 and family messaging on the account at the same time. They are conflicting.
