Voice Command 1.6 lady on crack?

Is there a way to slow down the creepy female voice talks to me when I'm using voice command?

Combine the funky computer-voice with the lightening speed with which it speaks and it's hard for me to understand sometimes what "she's" saying. It's particularly troublesome when I'm trying to make a call and "she" asks me who to call (e.g. "Call John Doe Mobile"). Frequently I can't tell what "she" said so I have to hang up and try again.

I think just slowing the voice down would help tremendously. Is there a way?

Thanks!

There sure is, load up your registry editor and browse to;

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Speech\Voice s and you have a DWORD named DefaultTTSRate with a value of 5. Change it to 2 and she will slow down to an understandable pace.

thanks a bunch... but i don't seem to have that dword value. should i just create it?

i'm using vc 1.6

You should have it, I am also using VC 1.6 on WM6. Do you have that key? If not, search for "TTSRate" and see what comes up - else, yes I would create it and see what happens.
