i spent all day trying to get customize working i could not find skylar molded version ..well he e mailed me and said it was off installer ..so i went searching ..here is what i found and it works ......hope this saves someone a lot of time

How to get Customize to work properly on a 1.1.3-1.1.4 iPhone/Touch.

You need two sources. (Sources are Case Sensitive people!)
1) http://i.unlock.no (1.1.4 Compatibility Patch)
2) http://www.dlubbat.com/iphone.xml (Customize v1.21 (custom), 2)

I highly recommend restoring the iphone, and then setting up as a NEW iPhone. Seems to work better with ZiPhone also. IMHO. But, you do what you want.

First. You need to Jailbreak your phone/touch with ZiPhone Version 2.5 or earlier. Do NOT use 2.5b or 2.5c! I do not know exactly why, but when you jailbreak using these versions it doesn't matter what you do, Customize will NOT work.

-Navigate to Installer. Click on Sources in the lower right corner, then click on Edit in the upper right corner, and then select Add to add a new source. Add both sources listed at the top of this quick tutorial.

-Now, while in Installer app, scroll down to Unlocking Tools, and install the 1.1.4 Compatibility Patch. (Note, you do not have to do this if you are on 1.1.3. Also, you will need the BSD Subsystem installed prior to running this installation). Let the file install, and then soft reboot the phone/touch.

-Now, Install Customize version 1.21 off installer (The regular version of Customize). Let it install, then let your phone/touch soft-boot. Then restart the phone/touch. Once your item powers back on, open the Customize application until it fully opens considering it usually crashes back to the springboard a few times. After it opens, close back to the springboard, open the Installer app and uninstall the 1.21 version of Customize, and then install the Custom Version of Customize which is labeled version 1.21 (custom), 2. After installation, let the phone/touch soft reboot, then restart the phone/touch and continue to open the application until it fully opens.

i didnt use ssh at all for that...and I didnt have to restore my phone if I used ZiPhone 2.5c...so whatevs...same ish different deal

Not a very reliable source... Says that the package can't download. Any other sources that have the Customize 1.1.3? I dont get why everyone and their mother think they need a source, all they offer are other peoples stuff, and it all becomes crowded and unorganized. Errr, so annoying.

it works i did it last night ...restart you i phone and try again ...and it apps other people took off installer ....it works ...try again wow !!!!! its only help if you dont take it or know how to use your i phone ..just dont take the help ...dont be so negitive

Geez I posted this in so many threads already, and yet people still ask about this. READ through the threads already.

Add this source: http://www.touchrepo.com/repo.xml and install that "Custom" Customize and everything should work just fine. It is in the "utilities" section in Installer. I did on 1.1.3 and on 1.1.4 and all works fine.

Oh, and you do need to install the compatibile APP to be able to install Customize. I am not sure off the top of my head what source you need to install to get it, but it is around here in the threads somewhere.

You DO NOT have to install Customize 1.21 and uninstall it and then put on the 1.21(custom)2 version. That is not needed. Just do what I said above and it will work fine.

There is no customize (custom) in my installer.
Yes I typed it correctly, yes it shows up as iPod touch fans in the list, yes I looked under utilities (as well as a full list)
I DO NOT HAVE customize (custom)
The only customize I have is the regular one and customize (old).. and then some customize add on's

where the heck is it hidding?

It put customize 1.2(custom),2 back on installer under all packages. I'm on 1.1.4 , used the 1.1.4 patch, and downloaded it. Works great....

I too have not been able to find the Customize v1.21 (custom), 2 file. Followed the instructions above and got the customize 1.21 on the phone and seems to be working, but no Customize v1.21 (custom), 2.

I have a Ziphone 1.1.4 JB phone.

the sources are fine. but after installing Customize, I tried to open it and it wouldnt. It opened and closed itself after like 5 seconds.

It is quite easy to find the compatibility patch. It is when adding dlubbat that I cannot find the Cusotmize v.1.21(custome),2

Please advise

This is all very strange. Why are sources taking this off their list? It's the only Customize version that works on 1.1.3 and 1.1.4. Maybe the author is giving them crap or something.

My opinion is that the author should just fix the darn thing already and quite stalling. He said he would continue development when the SDK got released. But until then the custom version works for the most part, so we should just use that until the author gets his act together and fixes all the silly problems.

Customize seems to be one of the most popular programs for the iPhone. Heck, even I would donate $5 to the cause or whatever via paypal if he would just fix the thing already.

I finally got mine to work by adding http://ipodtouched.net/repo.xml to my source list.
I couldn't find it when I first installed it but I checked about an hour ago (I just went through "All Packages" down to the C's and found cusomize 1.1.3

It works great.

Thanks for the guide.. I got it working fine.

The only thing I can't get to work is the Carrier Images.

I manually put in a set of carrier images but Customize just won't let me change the carrier image.

I put in the FSO and Default files for the carrier image and when I go into Customize it shows the title but it won't show a thumbnail preview or let me click on it. Once I click on the name of the carrier image it simply makes Customize close and nothing changes. Everything else has worked so far...

I've used Make It Mine, but that will only change the string. I want to use a custom made carrier image I found (hackT&T with the AT&T globe on the left).

Please help! Is changing the carrier image in 1.1.4 incompatible?

I think that means you've got the wrong Customize for your firmware. You must be running on 113/114 to get that message.
Try another one. Check to see whats your firmware and re install the right one.

FINALLY WOO HOO!!!
Tried everything I could dl and method I read.
This repo did the trick.

Customize 1.1.3 custom version

After losing my AT&T carrier image tab by installing other Customize 1.21(tried every version I could find),
it all came back with this version.

Installed 114 Compatibility patch.
Installed the regular version Customize 1.21, reboot system, make sure it runs.Then uninstall.Next.
Installed Customize 1.21 custom(2) from repo above. Reboot system, make sure it runs.

Note, most sources in the repository still install the images into root instead of mobile.
You will still have to move everything from:

* /private/var/root/Library/Customize to
* /private/var/mobile/Library/Customize and
* /private/var/root/Library/DockSwap to
* /private/var/mobile/Library/DowkSwap

Also, the Carrier Images DO work. However the option to change it will not show up until you add in a
Default_CARRIER_IPOD.png and a FSO_CARRIER_IPOD.png into
/System/Library/CoreServices.SpringBoard.app To do this,

1. download a package that includes carrier images.
2. Rename a matching pair of images to those named above and
3. place them into the said folder.

I also put Default_CARRIER_IPOD.png and a FSO_CARRIER_IPOD.png in
/system/library/carrier bundles/unknown bundle.

Then used MIM app (makeitmine) changed carrier text to Ipod and voila.
I can now change my carrier logos within Customize 1.21 custom.

I'm on Fido in Canada, this is what I did.
Soooooo happy now. Props to SkylarEC.

On 1.1.4/ 04.04.05G /3.9bootloader/Ziphone2.5
