Unlimited plans

I am just curious, how many folks have actually sold any of the Unlimited plans so far?? How many??

While I do not work in a store, I have only had one customer who actually switched because it would have been cheaper than going to the next higher calling plan @ $149.99/month. While I get occasional inquiries, once I confirm the price the price is almost always "No thanks" or "I will think about it".

I've sold several to people who would go to Cricket for their unlimited plan. I tell them, "Look, for $135 per month, all the voice, messaging, and internet on your RAZR/580/whatever you can have, plus you can go almost anywhere in the country. Try that on Cricket" Doesn't work all the time due to credit, but it's getting buzz in my market.

I don't think we've even had one person inquire about it yet...great job by the marketing department, I guess.

If it comes up, I'll suggest it, but not many people really need the plan. Most customers we have are on Family Talk, and who wants to pay $99 per phone to get unlimited, when they probably already have 10,000 rollover minutes? Isn't that already unlimited, in a way?

Posted by: krisguy

Yeah, cingman66, it's not for everybody, but not everything that's a feature is for everyone (Voice Dial, RA, etc). For the single line customers that want to use someone else, it's a great way to keep them interested.

I actually sold an iPhone with the "$140/month, all you can eat with the iPhone, which is actually $10 cheaper than any other smartphone." It was a woman who wanted the most functional, but couldn't text her way out of a paper bag. Sell her an iPhone and be done with it.

Nope, but they are still promoting the sccchhhhweeet Pantech Duo!!

I've migrated about 5 blue charter people and signed up 2 new lines. The blue customers actually got quite a few features, but compared to what's available to blue customers (20 bucks for 1000 texts, $5 just to access WAP at pay-per-use rates) the new plans are a bargain and a half.

Yep, I have a guy that still has a blue plan with a Vertu. When he comes back in, he's getting migrated over.

Saw one today for the first time. Before they even said anything like "AT&T, or Unlimited from AT&T" I could see it coming.

It seems for my store we have a decent amount of customers coming seeking to have 1 line on the unlimited plan and the others on the regular family talk. We've been directing them towards transfer of service. How is everyone else handling this situation?

Why the transfer of service? It's as simple as removing one of the lines to an individual plan, and the rest remain on the existing family plan.

I've sold several of them. Mostly to people with 2000-6000 min, package. Also, if they want to upgrade at the same time, change them before you do the upgrade and it will offer them the additional $50.00 off the phone and a waived upgrade fee.

See, here's a basic problem with the business model at AT&T. You guys WANT to tell the customer about $50 off the phone, because it doesn't affect your profit on the deal (or rather, what you will make on the opp). But for us (Agents), there is NO WAY in hell we would give them an additional $50 off, because it would come directly off the profit of the deal, which is how we are paid (basically it comes out of our pocket, not AT&T's).

Am I the only one who sees this as a severe disadvantage?

I see it, and it is BS! However a $99 plan (new or upgrade) pays well enough that we can honor $50 off, but we don't advertise any such "deal".

I personally don't believe the "unlimited" is something that AT&T WANTS to push very hard unless they have to. I believe the only reason they are advertising now is due to the other carriers doing so.

There really isn't much money in it for AT&T if a customer is truely talking enough to justify needing unlimited. That's why the plans above $99 existed in the first place. I could be wrong, but I don't believe the unlimited will always be there, just like the Charter plans in Texas weren't there long for blue AT&T.

well since my store sells both ATT and sprint... I haven't sold any ATT unlimited. Matter fact, My ATT sales has diminished. I haven't sold one ATT so far this month.

They are all jumping on the ban waggon with SPRINT's Simply everything plan for only $99.99..

And why wouldn't they.. the same thing plus more for less.. and generally a lower deposit.

Posted by: Jayden0606

I saw the Sprint commercial, it was funny as hells. "Simply Everything"

I believe I may have saw AT&Ts, but it was like a "since they did it, let's do it too" quick commercial.

I don't think a lot of customers even know about it. One of my reps had sent an email to me to give a customers rollover that someone changed the plan by accident and I noticed he was on the 99.99, 2000 minute plan. I'm like WTF, call him back and offer that. He did and customer accepted.

Maybe they wouldn't because the odds of Sprint still being in business at this time next year are slim to none.

Just a thought.

All the carriers have had their share of losses .. To make that statement is foolishness. They have spent alot of money on their data services and have become #1 in that field. You should look at it this way... they only have one way to go..and thats back up. I wouldn't have bought more stock at it's low price now if it didn't look hopeful.

In 20 days are company has done 2250 sprint activations and only 350 ATT activations.. so where do you see Sprint going down... I don't.

Posted by: vdubguy

I see your company going down. Just because your company's percentage of phones is clearly on Sprints side, it doesn't justify real world numbers for the carriers. 2250 vs 350 means nothing when compared to real world numbers. Some interesting links following the results might be of some interest to you.

"Sprint Nextel ended 2007 with 53.8 million subscribers on its network, representing a net gain of 700,000 customers on the year. The growth was due to a gain of 1.9 million prepaid and wholesale customers, which offset the massive exodus on the postpaid side of the business."

"Wireless revenues were up 16.3% to $11.4 billion, and net-adds for 2007 were 7.3 million, up 12%. AT&T is projecting growth in wireless service revenues in the mid-teens, percentage-wise Lindner said." Also have 70.01 million subscribers as of year end 2007.

Maybe you guys sell more sprint because you are biased?

Actually I'm more fond of ATT and I myself have 3 lines with ATT. I like the ability to change out phones on my own.. can't do that with cdma. I also think ATT has nicer phones.

We cater to the trucking industry, so our phone sales do not have many packages under $80 for the base rate. Once in awhaile we wil get a $60 package if a driver wants a seperate line for his/her kid.

These drivers are looking at out of pocket exspenses, and right now it is just cheaper to go with sprint's unlimited everything, yet still get the most.

As for the articles above, if I took the time, I'm sure I would find similar articles from the past when any other carrier was in a down slope.

They all have had their bad times. And my comment was not knocking ATT, my comment was that it was foolish to knock any carrier when they are on the down swing.

As for selling the two carriers, I'm gonna sell which ever one the customer wants.. it doesn't matter to me, I still get paid the same. And I'm not gonna let a customer walk just because they don't buy the carrier I prefer.

I've done that several times. Last week, I got two lines UNL voice and Fam MSG too. It's pretty simple. I even had a new iPhone go UNL and it still setup on the same account.

Does AT&T still offer a 6000 minute family plan? im trying to find out because 5 lines on a 6000 plan would be around $330 and 5 lines on the unlimited plan would be $500.

Question:

I just had a customer call me and very arrogantly tell me that he was told to go to a COR store to get the new Unlimited plan there, because they (COR) had Unlimited Everything (voice, text, internet, etc.) for $99.99. He made it seem like COR was the only place to get this deal. Is there any truth to this?

None whatsoever-he's confusing AT&T with Sprint. Imagine his surprise when he gets to the COR store, and is told it's just for voice. I'd love to see the look on his face.

Well, he also said he was thinking of going to Verizon, because they had a better plan...same $99, but with "a few extra things" that AT&T doesn't offer. I assumed he meant Sprint as well. What an idiot. And the way he talked to me on the phone, like I was somehow beneath him and too stupid to know about such a wonderful plan. Effin moron.

I would've asked him, what extra things does Verizon offer on their unlimited plans that AT&T doesn't? Cuz as far as I know, AT&T and Verizon are the same (@ $99/mo.). Verizon sure doesn't have Rollover on regular plans, and their phones are more crippled than any other network's. Sprint has unlimited everything, and T-Mobile has only unlimited texting included as their "bonus".
