hey all.... i was trying to upgrade my software before to using carrier rss and right as it was finishing this error popped up on my cpu screen saying that the battery may not be fully charged or something and stopped the process. so it didnt complete and when i turn my phone back on it comes up sayng
Flashstrap
MEM_MAP Blank
Service Req'd
i tried to use the combined upgrade i tried to restore my old software but nothing worked. I am not no damn newb who dont know anything and just messed up my phone cause i didnt know what the hell i was doing. Thats what pisses me off cause i did no what i was doing and this happened. So i was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this or is my phone toast? Any help would be appreciated thanks

thats why, before you upgrade software, a pop up tells you to make sure you have at least 2 bettery bars, and you clicked yes.

anyway, FIRST, put the phone into FlashStrap (take out battery and put back in, hold 2 softkeys and power on) THEN try using MRU, CUU, or IU with the battery charged.
For MRU:

it didnt come up with the box about the batter 2 bars or whatever thats why i thought everything was all good then when it was about or 100% done writing the software some error came up about the batter and everything

i tried everything...when i try to use the upgrade utility it reads it but when it goes to phone software it says that not compatible with this software. when i try to use iden update to restore backup it says error getting file (csd.s19) from server. When i try to use RSS to write the software or do the recover wizard it gives me an error like cannot communicate check battery but the battery is full...i dont know what to do now

Are you putting it in FlashStrap first? This should allow the phone to become programable. If not, put your OEM housing back on and take it to the closest service center. Ask them about Walk-In Express, dont say "gee......i was hacking the software and......." just make it simple "I power it on and this happenes". That always works best. No physical damage and no water damage then you are fine.

i am putting it in flashstrap cause it says connect to usb or data cable and ready to program

so IU still recogize ur phone and read it??
did you try reset the phone in rss??
Posted by: Hypnosis4u2nv
Put it in FlashTrap mode and open RSS.. Under 'Tools' chose Restore phone or Reset Phone..
That should do it..
Posted by: DOGHOODLUM
yes it recognizes the phone as does the the upgrade utility but with the upgrade utility once it gets to the second step of phone software it says it does not recognize my software and yes i tried the reset i tried just about every option in RSS
Posted by: DOGHOODLUM
the reset works but it just resets and the same mem_map blank error comes up.....the recover phone does not work an error in rss comes up that says cannot communicate with phone
Posted by: DOGHOODLUM
so i guess my phone is a goner eh...i should just change my modded housing put the original on and take it to the service center like it was suggested? if thats my last option what should i exactly say to them? should i just be like this error came up out of nowhere and leave it at that?

I would tell that you charged the phone overnight and when you woke up you discovered the phone like that.
You chould be able to continue to program that phone using the flashtrap mode.. I had the same problem and it worked for me.. Im pretty sure that its the Restore option.
Turn your phone off and enter the FlashTrap mode while RSS is open.
Then open your Good Codeplug and write to phone. Or Restore Phone.
It works, play with it a little..

see the thing is that since i was writing the software in rss and it stopped right before it was completed there is no software on the phone right now and thats why the program is not recognizing it. Because as you know when you write the software in rss it erases old data first then starts writing the new one.

i guess the CUU is outdated so it cant fix ur phone.
ur another option could b wait for the new version come out.
Posted by: DOGHOODLUM
yea i could but then i will be stuck using my i85s for that amount of time and i dont want to be doing that lol
Posted by: Hypnosis4u2nv
Isnt the FlashTrap is Read Only? Therefore can not be erased or overwritten?
Posted by: DOGHOODLUM
i dunno having no software on my phone right now because rss erased old data is the only logical explanation on why no program can fix it and why when i goto iden update and it gives me cannot find software file csd.s19 on server so i dunno

If you have an iDEN Update backup of this phone, and know what version of the software was on it... I can help you... Your phone is not dead, but not easy to fix either...

i couldnt wait any longer i went to the service center and am getting a new one thanks anyway....i would still like to know if there was a way i could have fixed it myself though for the future...i did have a backup from iden update and the software that was on my phone was R85.01.00 until i was writing the software with RSS and i was trying to write it to R85.01.02 and like i said right when it was almost done the error popped up about the battery level

have same problem. i have a backup copy of my i95 and it software 85.01.01.

Tried putting the S19 files for the software update from R85.01.02 from iDEN Update on with RSS didn't you?
That won't work, and will always destroy your phone.
At least, that's been my experience.
With iDEN Update, you could have restored the backup with some help. You would have needed the appropriate CSD file, put in the right place on your filesystem, and the restore would have worked.
Please don't ever try to do a software update with RSS. You are almost certain to destroy the phone, as Motorola doesn't seem to distribute the software updates in such a manner as to facilitate that function in RSS, but rather prefers the CUU / MRU / iDEN Update method of distributing the software.

PS - What did ya want with R85.01.02 anyway?!? The tools to support it aren't out there yet... iDEN Update will show no applications available for a phone with R85.01.02 on it, as will DownloadApps... If you were hoping for camera support, you still need the java application software, which is loaded separate of the firmware update anyway, and not yet distributed through iDEN Update... It may never be distributed via iDEN Update...
