904SH Music Player

Hi everyone, I have been trying to get my 904SH to play music but failed. Every time I put the SD card in and look for music on the phone I cannot play the files because they are "incompatible". I transfer music files onto my SD card by using the SD card reader and transferring via USB. Is there a specific target folder that I have to make for the phone? This is the default folder that the phone created:

PRIVATE>MY FOLDER> My Items> Music
PRIVATE>MY FOLDER> My Items> Sounds & Ringtones

The music file that I have tried are:
MP3 Format Sound
Attributes: A
Bit Rate: 192kbps

Any help is appreciated, THANKS!

mp4 is the way to go... try gp3converter it can convert for you, mp3 is a big nono

Posted by: Efishie

ohhh i will give that a try thanks!

iTunes will do the job too..

To be more specific, the 904SH doesn't support MP3 files.

I've tried some MP4s but it won't play them either. Also tried ACC but these don't even show when you look in the Music folder...

First format your SD card from your phone. (this would help get rid of w/e bugs you might have lol)

then convert all the files you want to listen to into ACC files via itunes or w/e. Then shove them all into the directories that you listed via SD adaptor (this is how I usually do it....or use bluetooth) and then go to data folder on your 904sh click on Music or Ring Songs - tones (which ever one you put the ACC in) <--- lol softbank needs proper grammar XD and then press the left top button with the envolope (options) and select change to memory card. Now you should be able to see your files and you can transfer them to your phone or just play them from your card.

>_> I hope that helps and if it doesn't then well Crap XD

If you want to use the songs as ringtones then follow Junglizt1210's ringtone guide

Doesn't work. Tried with some ACC files and some MP4 too. The ACC don't even show and when I click on any of the MP4s I get "Cannot play!"
Can you upload somewhere an ACC or MP4 file(s) that you know work on your 904sh?
I am using a brand new MiniSD that I formatted for the first time on the 904sh three days ago. All other files (M4A and some THF - for the custom screens and all pictures) work normally.

Well these songs work for me I just jacked them from my 904sh's mini sd card
Theres 3 ACC files and 1 MMF file

all of them work for me......if it doesn't work for you then either your 904sh is bugged or your memory card can't be used with your 904sh (what memory card is it? sandisk 2g? lol random guess) >_>

Thanks! All the files work (they're .m4a and one .mmf).
I tried converting into M4A using Xilisoft Audio Converter but it's FAAC DLL encoder only has 16,000 / 18,000 / 19,500 Hz Bandwidth and the files won't play on the phone. The M4As that work have a bandwidth of 44100 Hz.

What do you convert with?

My miniSD is a Corsair one

Posted by: MyLoveForTofu

converted with Itunes

it appears as a M4a in 904sh but its actually a ACC
so just download itunes lol

Posted by: cheeseus

Downloading now.
Any idea why files with extension .aac do not show when you browse the music folder?
And one more thing - is there any other format, beside the MMF, that can be used as a ringtone?

Posted by: MyLoveForTofu

Midi lol

unless you somehow go to japan and download ringtones >_>
but yea pretty much every other format can't be used for ringtones as far as I know.....AMR should be able to but it sucks >_> and I don't know about wave though I would assume it wouldn't

as for your 1st question I have no clue >_> just use the itunes and convert to acc or aac or w/e its called

and shove it into your card ........ as long as it works lol dont question it XD
its weird because itunes turns it into aac file but its read as a m4a =P

Yep, it works with iTunes. This problem solved.
Midi sucks. Haven't tried AMR.
So, we're stuck with MMF. The only good news is, we can use the MA-7 setting with 32,000 Hz in stereo, which gives far better quality than the MA-5 / 24,000 Hz / Mono on the 902sh. And a much shorter ringtone

Going to Japan to download songs you say. Is this the famous Chaku Uta format? Downloadable through the internet only? Are the preinstalled songs in this format? They sound quite nice, I'd think they're M4As (ok, AAC).

what video formats is it compatible with?
i tried mp4 but it doesn't work.

I don't know XD

anyways keep in mind that the 904sh has a 300kb limit for ringtones so if your using 32,000 make sure your song is short.

Just to clear up some loose ends, the 904SH supports AAC files (please get this right, it's AAC, not ACC) that end in the .m4a extension only. You can try files ending in .mp4, but as you've seen, it causes more problems than it's worth. Files ending in .aac aren't supported.

As for the codec, make sure files are 128Kbps or smaller in bitrate. I'll have to look the manual up to recheck the frequencies, will do that when I'm back home tonight.

I found a solution to the music player after getting some answers from AL9999, Yttrasil and K_Gokiburi (cheers to you all).

follow the instructions on this link:
http://technology.sympatico.msn.ca/...=abc&date=False

using Quicktime with itunes:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
(can be dled here ^)

Just change the file type to AAC format and you are good to go. Hope this helps. You can also change bit rate using the iTunes program.

>_> he solved the problem with itunes hours ago XD just to let you people know

oh really hehe

If you want to use the songs as ringtones then follow Junglizt1210's ringtone guide
