XTND Connect Sync Problem!!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hello Everyone,

I noticed a very peculiar thing the other day when I was syncing my outlook caledar with my S55. It seems that the appointments in outlook appear on the phone one hour earlier than they are supposed to. Everything else is working perfectly.

Does anyone else have this problem? Please let me know especially if you have any solutions.

I have never had that happen to me hmmm....

I'm having the same problem. I checked the time zones in both Outlook and on my S56, but they are both set the same. I also checked the DST box in the clock options.

This is really annoying. I can't find anything in the Xtnd connect help.

Anyone with ideas? I'm sure it is something simple, but I don't know what it could be.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same prob. I have tried to find out a solution at siemens forum, but so far nothing.

I emailed Siemens from the my-siemens web site yesterday. I have no idea if I'll get any response though.

Also, somehow ONE of my appointments shows the correct time. What's up with that?

Anyone know how to delete all appointments? I want to try and start from scratch with appointments, but not contacts, which are fine.

I found how to delete appointments (it was in the pdf user guide). But now I have yet another related problem - XTND connect does not recognize that my phone is connected via IR. My laptop shows it as available, and I can manually send files to it, but XTND says it is not available. I tried uninstalling XTND and reinstalling it, to no avail. I like this phone a lot, but this is annoying.

I wish I could tell you what I did to fix this, but I'm not sure. Yesterday I deleted all appointments, checked the 'Auto Time Zone' box, then tried to sync. XTND would not even recognize the phone. I uninstalled then reinstalled XTND, still wouldn't find the phone.

This morning, I decide to go ahead and try it again, and it connected. Now, all of my appointments are at the correct time. The only thing I can think of is that you have to have the time zone and DST set correctly on both Outlook and the phone before the first sync, or it will always be off by an hour.

I wish I had a better answer, but I'm happy to have it working again. I'll post something if I get a useful response from Siemens support.

Finally got a reply from Siemens on this issue...sort of. I guess I shouldn't be surprised (except that it took 15 days to get THIS answer?). The reply follows -

When I first started syncing my S56 with outlook, I was having the same clock problems.

1 hour off.

You CANNOT check the DST box on the computer. Uncheck that box and manually readjust the time. Once you do that, your calendars should sync up just fine. I know it sounds weird, but it did the trick for me.

Double click your clock in the task tray
Goto the Time Zone tab
Make sure "Adjust for Daylight Savings Time" is NOT checked.
Reset your clock if you need to.
Away ya go.

I tried this and no go. I still get the appointments onehour early on the handset. Grrrr. Any other ideas?

Interesting. When I was having the problem, my Outlook appointments were 1 hour behind while the phone was correct.

Under the Time Zone setting on your phone, do you also have DST and Auto Timezone unchecked?

Settings/Clock/TimeZone/Options

Mine are currently unchecked.

Yup, both are unchecked on both the phone and the computer.

Ok now Im stumped. Im thinking but not coming up with anything :-)

Somewhere one of those timezones or clocks are not matching. But Im not sure where to get you to look now.

Hoping someone else will jump in on this thread and assist.

Sorry - not what you wanted to hear.

OK, so I did a couple of things and now everything works. Here's what I did:

-Unchecked DST and autoclock on both the S56 and my PC
-Hotsynched my Outlook with my Palm, with Palm overwriting the outlook (I had previously synched up tomake sure there was no data loss)
-Synched Outlook calendar ONLY with S56 calendar ONLY
-Synched Outlook and S56 again, this time all modules

Works like a charm now.

YMMV.

thanks for all of the help,
AdL

BTW, aside from this problem, I LOVE the S56. I have been a Nokia snob for some time, but I really digging this handset. Now to get some bluetooth toys...

I just tried about 5 variations before I could get this to work.

In the end I had to leave "Adjust for DST" checked on my computer.

I had to leave both time zones and DST unchecked on my phone.

I used a "force full synchronisation" with Outlook overwriting the phone.

Now all my appointments are there with the correct times - no exceptions...
