OverClocking iPhone

Was looking online at another forum and there was a few people talking about over clocking the iPhone to run smother. Has anyone tried or know how to do this ?

I personally don't think it's a good idea. Overclocking increases your processor speed which increases the heat of your phone, thus greatly decreasing the life of your phone and probably voiding your warranty. I really don't think it's necassary, compared to other phones, the iphone runs DAMN smooth. Sure it lags at times, but it greatly surpasses any other phone in the GUI (that I know of)

qft..

my tmobile wing pretty much required overclocking otherwise it sucked major ****. and even overclocking it to 286 it still lagged like hell

what if you overclocked it and you break it , just return it and get a new phone right.

good point you could just do a restore .

If you fry your phone, you can't restore.
If you can't restore, Apple can find out you messed with it without even looking for it.

People seem to be fascinated with over clocking things....no idea why.

Just like cars, always trying to make them faster.

its just in our male genes to be facinated with making things go faster

Overclocking doesn't necessarily make anything faster.....often slower really as you end up creating a bottleneck on the FSI or something else can't keep up.

Now it's all fine and dandy for your PC as you can deal with the heat, memory issues or other hardware related issues.
But you can't bolt on some liquid cooling nor change the FSB on your iPhone now can you?

The chip rated at a higher speed then it runs currently. This is done for stability and chip longevity reasons. Now if one really doesn't care that much and wants to see what this baby can do, go wild. I'd be more the curious to see what can be achieved.

Thats how my i930 was I over clocked so it would not lag so much. My iPhone lags sometimes but It may be because its on TMO.

Is there ANY reason to oc this phone? It already runs at 614Mhz. What's so important that you need more power?

you mean it runs at 412..

It actually runs around 600Mhz, regardless of what SysInfo says. This has been known for awhile.
