I've had a Z520a for two years and have loved it--the only problem it has is that it seems to have some mild water damage, so it drops calls relatively frequently (not enough that I've given up on it, obviously, but enough to be annoying).

I have been waiting to replace the phone with a z750 (seemed like the logical upgrade), but it's been taking forever for it to come out, and I started looking at the w580. I doubt I'd like a slider quite as much as a clamshell, but then again, I've never had one, so I'm not sure. I also really don't care about the Walkman feature. The real advantage I see of the 580 is that it's available now, though my understanding is that the 750 should be out this week, so perhaps that's a moot point. My only hesitation on the 750 is that it's taken so long to come out that I'm not sure it'll be as up-to-date as a brand-new phone should be. It is entirely possible that my sense of advantage/disadvantage where these phones are concerned is unfounded, which is why I'm here.

Bearing in mind that most folks haven't had a chance to look at a 750, anyone have a sense of which would be the better phone? Bluetooth and quad-band are musts, but otherwise, I'm pretty flexible. If you're a fan of the 580, how is the keypad? I've seen conflicting reports on its durability and have to say those keys look awfully small!

definitely Z750 as it also has 3G for att
both are equal with T-Mobile though

Thanks! What's the advantage of 3G? Is it just speed? I mostly use the phone for calls, only occasionally to check email (though I get the feeling web browsing is a completely different animal on newer phones than it is on mine--is that the case?).

I have and use both. The 580 is a greta phone for music adn has the pedometer. The 750 gets a little better reception, and the internet is faster as its a 3g piece. The 750 has Cv. not a huge advantage but when you're at the airport or in a long slow line its nice to play with.
750 should be out my months end if you can wait you'll be happy you did. If internet CV are not a big deal to you get the 580 it dos include the headphones and data cable. Both are 50.00 after rebate, Check Radio Shack they had the 580 29.99 last week

Are you really sure? I've heard release dates for the Z750 before and it didn't come out. Why's it so late, if that's true? Do you know?

I have no idea who you're asking, but this article seems to be pretty sure, as do their follow-ups. I sure hope they're right, because I'm tired of waiting, too. Alas, I possess no crystal ball, so I cannot possibly tell you why it's taken so long.

ABSOLUTELY sure it will be att by months end. The link there says 3/11 that clearly wrong as its tomorrow and there none in the stores yet but look around 3/21, it should be in by then

Radio Shack has it--at least, one of the ones in Naples, FL did when I was there today. I nearly fell down, I was so surprised to see it. Not on the AT&T site yet, but might be in the stores?

The display model was black, and I did pick it up to feel the size (it's bigger than my z520 but a bit thinner) and the buttons, but the display was a sticker, so I couldn't actually try the menus, etc. When the AT&T stores have it, hopefully they'll have live phones on display.
