confused with the 8525

I just got an 8525 but i do not have a data plan. If i connect to my wifi in the house when I go off of that will it automatically start billing me or i have to go on the internet for the phone to transfer data. Is there a way to turn of the data coming from cingular so that i do not have to pay for the data plan and i could just use it when i am in a wifi location? any help would be appriciated.

Yea you can delete the data connection under connections tab >> connection icon >> Manage existing connection under MediaNet...Then delete MediaNet by taping and holding the connection.
