I heard (from a Sanyo source) that a new Katana DLX is on the way out... but, I have yet to see anything new!
Anyone know the deal on the next Katana DLX (2)?

Are you sure you don't mean the upcoming Katana LX... which is the successor to the Katana II...

Naww.
I'm talking about the new DLX...
When I was at CES 2008, I talked with a couple guys from Sanyo... they told me of a new Katana DLX that will be coming out soon that will blow the rest away!

I have a silver Katana DLX. I like it, but I do have some issues with it:
1. No flash on the camera. I knew it when I bought it, but it still irks me sometimes.
2. Charging port on the side of the phone. My last phone's charging port was on the bottom of the phone - much more convenient when you're talking while charging.
3. Volume button is ridiculously thin, and on the top (flip) part of the phone. Bad placement.
4. Phone alarms suck. It would take more explaining than I am willing to do right now, but the snooze feature is painful. I've used my phones as alarms since 2001, but I am actually considering going back to an alarm clock. It is just that bad.
5. The colors this phone comes in (pink, goldish, and silver) are suck. I would have preferred red, or failing that.. black.
6. The flaps that protect the sd slot, charger, etc. are cheap. Extra cheap.
What's good about the phone:
1. Sound quality is really good
2. Speaker is relatively decent
3. Processes requests quickly
4. Gets great reception
5. Nice screen size/clarity
Overall... I like the DLX. It performs its main functions well. The downsides to the phone aren't enough to take away from the solid performance.
