ATT vs VZW employment??

I currently work for the latter but am interested in knowing how we compare to the employment perks for ATT. Is there anyone here who has worked for both and would like to share? For example, pay, discounts, overall experience, opportunity for promotion just to name a few.

I know two that went from ATT to VZ... both because they claimed they made atleast 4 dollars more than what ATT was paying...




I also have seen that Sprint starts out their call center reps at about 3 dollars more than what I've seen ATT pay...



Sucks.. if VZ was here I'd be out in a heartbeat...

Personally, I only take jobs for companies I care about. That is me.

I work for the latter--not in sales. I am quite content there and I have no interest in leaving there.

It boggles my mind how people can work for companies and not care a thing about their jobs aside from how much they make.

Wow, that would really limit the job pool for me since I don't give a rats rosy red rectum about companies. I may like the people I work with and the people I work for, but I have the same loyalty for the company that I work for that they have for me. Absolutely none. If verizon opened a call center here I'd jump ship in a hearbeat, and I'd still be working with the same people.

Verizon Wireless generally rates higher in employment polls fielded throughout the industry especially for single working mothers and minorities. They are one of the few organizations that actually offer tuition advancements along with reimbursements.

If AT&T has a better opportunity for you, by all means explore it. Everyone's experience will differ as will yours.

Reasons why I would not want to work for either is due to the sheer size of both. If you are on the bottom, it's much harder to work your way up with so much competition in the way. On the other hand, large companies like that are generally more stable.

If I were you, I'd use your wireless experience and field it towards other opportunities in other industries like the Entertainment Industry. Whether it be Sony, NBC Universal, Warner Bros. etc, you'd find yourself an asset with one of those conglomerates.

I work for ATT and my bf works for VW. Verizon sales usually make more than ATT if you are really good. But thats because most stores do more business than we do. They get paid way less than we do per activation, opp, features, but they jsut do a ton more. Like a super big month for me is 150-170 total opps. At the same time my bf was doing 200 new activations alone not even counting upgrades and he was at a mid level store.

Verizon is more strict and there is more structure in their stores than ATT can ever dream of from what I see. We get to play on the internet when its slow and management is a joke here. Dont hit your goals no big deal it takes a lot of time to write someone up.

Verizon has weekly sales meetings that you have to show up to, calls on down time.... So if you are really good at sales there is the potential to make a lot more at verizon (from what I have seen). Their top sales make around $100,000. Where from what I have seen ATT top people make about 70-80k.

Top retail reps? B2B reps? Data reps?

Unfortunately, the reality for most (assuming you hit your sales quota every month) FT sales reps is to bring home at or less than $ 32k annually.

funny i made far more than that last year and the top reps in my market are right around 80k... i work for tmobile. im positive if you were to ask some of our reps if they make at or less than 32k they might laugh.

How did you come up with this figure?

This is close to the hourly pay.

Hi, I have been reading these forums, along with ppcgeeks, blackberryforums, xda-developers, and a few others. I don't post often, so feel free to question my credibility. I used to work for tmo, I was a top sales rep in Colorado, which, by no means is a top market, but is high on the top 20 tmobile markets. I made about 58k in 2005 and 2006. I'm talking about 80-90 acts a month on a quota of 50-60, with $8-$9 average feature attachment rating, on top of that i did upwards of 90 upgrades. 18 out of my 23 month career with tmo were in the top 10. 2007 saw numerous commission cuts, if i had still been employed at T-Mobile, I would be on par to make 38k, maybe 40k this year. The average salesperson now at tmobile makes 8.crap and hour plus roughly 800-1000 a month in commission, at a busy store. This is the unadulterated true situation at the T-Mobile corporate stores. To say that you should care bout a company that just ripped 18 GRAND out of your pocket this year for doing your job better month over month, and essentially made the difference between motivated, driven, good sales people to bad sales people negligible. I can assure you that if anyone working as a sales rep for T-Mobile tells you they make 80k a year, unless they're in LA or Chicago, or a ridiculously busy market, they are not embellishing, or even exaggerating, they are lieing.

PS I'm not exactly sure about the correlation, but this may be a good indication why the 39.99 1000 minute plan promo lasted for 3 months longer, and now they're offering those promo family myfaves plans. Those crap net adds statistics could be because all of the direct sales people you forced to quit, actually were the reason for T-Mobile's growth over the years.
