I'm on a family plan and want to buy an iPhone and was wondering if i go to the apple store or the at&t store do they do a credit check for a customer who already has service? I just don't want to spend $400 on it and then it turns out that i can't activate it on my line? Anyother info would be helpful.

just buy one then you go home and activate through iTunes

k, so there is no credit check for an exsisting customer, i was told there still would be. That's the only reason i was asking, because that didn't make sense to me.

Not the gospel, but this is what I am getting from around the board

Go into an AT&T store and try to get a refurbished iphone = credit check / have to be AT&T

Go into an AT&T store and try to get a regular iphone = no credit check

Go into an Apple store and try to get an iphone = no credit check

Go online to www.apple.com and get a refurbished / new iphone = no credit check.

Of course different stores will vary, but that is the average story I am reading.

Best deal would be buying it off of someone or getting it through apple.com refurbished, then activate / add to your new line.
