I plug my iphone up to my aux port on my car radio. However when the phone rings i hear it through the cars speakers. should i be able to put it on speaker phone and talk and hear the other person through the speakers. like a hands free devise. If so, how do i do it. because it doesn't work. anybody else try this.

I do not think the iPhone will work that way. Also, the headphone jack cable you use is not wired with the male tip need for the audio of a call. If you notice the mic/headphones that came with the iPhone has 4 sections on the tip. Each handling a different part of the iPhones audio and mic.

I was thinking about using my iphone the same way but after some thought I figured it out that the iphone won't function properly as when you have the aux. plugged in to the iphone headset jack the iphone will always think headset is plugged in and the fact that your aux. cord doesn't have a mic you lose voice capabilities. I did see a adapter jack for the iphone that has a mic built it into it, only thing with that is quality probably is garbage. It would be nice if bluetooth or something worked while have the aux. cord plugged in.

I have that cord and it work rather well for me. It even has a button on it to end the call and outside of the call it starts and stops the music playing on the phone.

I will have to pick up the mix adapter and test it out, I see them on craigslist for like 15 bucks.

This exact question has been the topic of discussion with a friend of mine and myself for about a week now.

Here is the thing. I have my phone hooked up through my car audio aux port. That was not fun. But when I plug the audio jack in the top of the phone sometimes I hear people on speaker phone through my speakers. I don't know why but it doesn't work all the time. When it works it works nice.

I don't know why but my friend has the cord for charging/audio out/and everything else plugged into the bottom of his phone. Plays music that way real nice but he can't hear people through the speakers when speaker phone is on.

So I don't know why and in which way I am able to hear people in my car on the sound system but it works sometimes. From what I remember if you have headphones plugged in to the phone that are not the apple ones for some reason I can hear people on headphones but they can not hear me, at first I thought it was because when you have headphones in the phone it turns off the speaker receiver for you to talk into. Obviously it doesn't work like that because I can hear people in my car with the audio jack plugged in, and the receiver works for me to talk into.

I hope that helps a little. Its just really info no solution.

I select speaker phone and the phone uses the built in mic for my voice, but i want to hear the caller through the speakers. Can this be accomplished?
