Ziphone and itunes restore?

I'm on 1.1.3 firmware, unlocked.
there are a lot of problems with my phone, I can't install anything with installer as it says, "Error: Not enought free space to update Installer! Please free at least 512KB of space"...thing is I have 7.1GB available.
and a lot of other bugs..

I was wondering if I can just click update on itunes (without hand selecting the desired firmware [holding ctrl+hitting upgrade]) and then using Ziphone to jailbreak + unlock the phone?

my iphone came as a 1.0.2 and is week 37.

go to installer and download boss tools which will move all your apps to the bigger partition.

I can't install any apps...
it downloads but right when it starts to install the app, it boots me back to the home screen.
my main question is if you can upgrade with itunes and use ziphone to unlock..
I don't want a bricked phone, so was wondering if this was possible at all

restore to 1.1.4
ziphone again
