Yes it was stolen and yes I cried. It was unlocked and I was using a rogers SIM in it. Of course I took the password protection off cause it annoyed me... clearly regretting that now obviously.
I called rogers and disabled the SIM, but I'm more worried about this person having access to all my personal files.... People at both Rogers and AT&T were most unhelpful. Does anybody know of any way to disable the phone or track it after the fact? I do have my IMEI number.
Beware if someone is trying to sell an AT&T 8252 without any accessories!!!!

both rogers and AT &T can track it through IMEI if someone else uses the phone but you would need a court order or the police to ask them to get the information.
They will not reveal that fact or do it for you.
There is no remote way of disabling the phone that can be done through third party programs.

Even if they use it with their own SIM card? The police tell me that they think it's only traceable with the SIM card and it's often not very accurate, but they're looking into it. When I call my number, it goes straight to voicemail. I suspect they've already put their own in it.

you should have the IMEI on the phone of the phone. i think that is the most important thing to give to the police cuz there's only 1 of that code in the world. but there's no way to remote disable the phone but even rogers will do that.
but i think rogers should have a system that tracks what IMEI is using their network. it would make sense for them to have but im not sure about this. if they do, trying to help you is another thing.

Have you been checking Craigslist and Ebay for someone selling one in your area?

I lost my 8525 at the movie theater about 1 month ago.I had it in my pocket not my purse and it must have just slipped out during the movie.I was pissed because (if my guy had not taken it to shut off the ringer I would not have lost it).I went back after the next show and it was gone.I had it NEVER set it to lock. I was raving about the phone but no words can describe how I felt about not just the tons of personal info in my contacts, but my files and photos..After a night of thinking about it i just went and plunked down the bucks for a new phone.I was out of contract so they kindly decided to give me the new line/contract rate.no sooner had we walked out the door when some loser calls my guy acting like a phone rep needing the unlock code.
(he had put his number in to display when locked)
my guy says hang on I need to call you back.He called from a blocked number.
well 5 minutes later he calls back and forgets to unblock the number. long story short we meet at a fast food place and get my LOCKED phone back.
(well my guy took my phone HE WENT THROUGH THE MOTIONS AND SET THE LOCKS BACK UP.
the guy could not unlock the phone and it was not worth it to him so he gave it back.as for my files they were in e wallet. i will never leave my phone unlocked for long anymore.
