Is there a way to restrict specific numbers from calling my phone? Its a blackberry curve, 8310, and its on Cingular/at&t's network?

There is no way to stop someone from dialing your number. Some phones will send calls from undesired numbers to voicemail or send back a busy signal. The Blackberry Curve cannot stop an incoming call from ringing. You could select a specific ringtone for calls from numbers you do not wish to answer. Use one of the alert tones so that the phone does not continue to ring. You can press the End key to send the call directly to voicemail or do nothing and let the call go to voicemail on its own or the caller hangs up. It is not advisable to use a silent ringtone because you might answer the call while you are trying to make an outgoing call, especially if you are using a headset or handsfree unit.

damn.... this was for a friend of mine, my phone has a program I can put on that will automatically ignore certain numbers...

I was always under the impression that the provider could block certain numbers....

hmm... any other insight?

Actually, you should be able to with a profile (not ringtone) exception. You'd have to create a profile with no alerts for the ringers. Each number would have to be added to the address book and the exceptions set up to use the "no ring" profile.

It's the same process used for distinct email/SMS alerts for a specific contact.

I use a program called Blacklist/whitelist from Iberry.
