AT&T 3G Service

I live in NYC, so I am fortunate to get great 3G coverage from AT&T. Anyway, 6 months ago I was working on Long Island and there was very little 3G coverage on the entire Island, with the exception of the town of Huntington.

For those who don't know Long Island, it is not small. Anyway, I had to go see my family and my current phone lacks 850, but has 1900 3G. I knew I was going to lose coverage when I got out there because about 1o minutes out of NYC, I always lose 3G service and hit EDGE.

Anyway, I never lose 3G coverage and I was all over Long Island (Nassau County) these past 2 days and never lost 3G service, except for a few small spots (and luckily had GPRS).

I have to say that I am very impressed with AT&T and how they are expanding their 3G coverage. I am curious to know if anyone has anything like this where they live, perhaps getting 3G service now when they hadn't previously.

Damn bro, I am right down the road, literally (In Roslyn).

3G in the Garden City / Westbury was something I never saw before.

Um, well Brookville is next to Roslyn so it makes sense

Sorry, I don't go outside Manhattan unless absolutely necessary. (j/k )

Speeds here in San Jose have been great. But because PIE sucks for the DSL Reports test, I can't get a complete measurement. However, on my old N95-4, I constantly got over 1.1mbps.

Then you are missing out, everyone needs to get out of the city once in a while. I grew up in Roslyn, about 20 miles or so out of NYC and I need to go home every so often and BBQ, Play Golf, goto the Beach, etc.

I've been waiting for 3G in Greenville/Spartanburg, SC area for a while (Since I moved here last July). Every few months I email the Network Executive Director with responsibility for the Carolina’s, and just received an email today claiming that 3G service will be "unoffically" turned up the first week of June for Greenville/Spartanburg and Clemson areas. He also mentioned that they are now working on an expansion plan, that should double the size of the 3G network here.

So I'm getting happy!
