The GPS works indoors?

I have been waiting to post this for some time but does the Mogul truely have gps? I can get satellites indoors, I even went into a closet in my basement and was able to hook up. I understand that it requires internet to update the images for google maps but how does it find me via gps? Does the cellular signal have some kind of locator and they claim that is gps?

I have other devices that reqire satellite signals (garmin street pilot and Sirius) both devices will not work in the garage with the door open. I have to have a clear view of the sky. Sometimes in a city like Philly or NYC the Garmin will fail. But the mogul seems like it can triangular your position from anywhere.

How does it find you via gps? Are you kidding? I think Im miscontruding this question.

Either way, it can find ya via cellular tower triangulation or GPS. GPS is precise while cellular triangulation is only 1500 feet approx at best.

Mongul does not have a built-in GPS device so to get GPS service through Google Maps you'll need to procure an external gps device.

i thought it did have internal gps, and that was what was just enabled through the ROM update that also enabled rev A. I think the Qualcomm MSM7500 has gps hardware integrated.

I thought the same thing, but this is what a moderator posted in another forum when I asked the question there.

i thought the same thing until i came across that site. apparently the new REV.A can track you almost as well as a real gps

well I think that is awesome. I have used it with google maps and I think it works well. Just sometimes while moving in a car it requires attention from time to time.
