Treo 700p & bluetooth stereo headset???

Hey guys,

I've been wondering if this combo would work with my phone.

I'm trying to see if i can use a bluetooth stereo headset with my 700p. I know you have to have a certain kind of bluetooth capability...i.e. bluetooth 1.2.

Can someone confirm with me if this will work or not? I know i can use a bluetooth adapter plugged into my 2.5mm jack but i want to use my own phones bluetooth connection(less clutter).

I'm willing to download highly illegal programs to update my bluetooth if possible, as long as i can get it to work...

Thanks

Rob

There is a hack to make this work, but unfortunately, it's only for the Windows Mobile powered Treo 700wx. Have heard nothing about a similar hack for Palm OS.

...does this mean that you are not sure if the 700p will work or not, or you are sure it wont?

Well, I don't think there's a hack for it anyway. I want to say some people have had luck using third party software, such as softstick audio gateway, to make it work.

One more question...This softick gateway program has 3 types of downloads

Palm OS 307kb

Full Version 538kb

and another one that you can buy for $19.99...which one is it?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE:

nevermind its a trial version...no where did it say it was a trial...oh well. as long as it works, i dont mind paying $20.

IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!

and it actually works pretty good!

i picked up the Cardo S-2...and for someone who has a big head and neck size, it fits pretty well. Sound quality isnt the best i've heard, but its good enough.

No distortion at all until you reach into the 28-30 foot range, then it starts cutting off.

all in all, ill give the program a 9/10 for ease of use, and great compatibility(since its not a motorola, logitech, sony, etc)

thanks for the valueable info people!

okay,

I just came back from my workout, and i used this thing all the way thru...with a few problems tho.

This program is not 100% stable I think. It would give me the same problem over and over again.

Sometimes when i would fiddle around with the track buttons or play/pause buttons on my headset, it would just stop playing, it would still say "playing" but the second clock does not move. I can pause it adn play it agian but it would do nothing. When i disconnected the headset it would start playing off my phone, and it would not work unless i restart my phone. It would not work if i turned my headset off and then back on. only if i was to restart my phone.

Any ideas what it can be?

bump...anyone have any ideas?

anyone else know of any third party programs that can stream audio(A2DP) through my bluetooth?

Problem is there is no any software developed for Palm only Softick ha done it.

Posted by: robohopar

thanks guys...so basically looks like softick is the only third party software out there

Robohopar why dont you contact the developer to let them know about the problem. They frequently update their software.

I contacted them via email, we'll see what happens.

Any chance anyone else has or is experiencing this problem?

The 700p has known issues with its bluetooth stack. It basically will lose track of devices every once in awhile (especially headsets), and the only recourse is to soft reset. The MR 1.10 update seemed to help a decent amount, but the problem still seems to occur sometimes. I would recommend installing that update if you haven't yet.
