invisibleshield, should I get it?

I'm at the mall right now and they have a new invisibleshield cart here. The guy showed me a demo itouch and it looks pretty damn good. He offered me a 15 percent discount off the 34.99 cost. I'm thinking of going for it but the cost seems to be kinda high. He says it takes 20 min and they will do it for me. Thoughts?

Posted by: Sesshoumaru

i paid 24 with free international shipping for it, but if he will install it for you, i would take that price, i coudlnt install the back part properly (it still does it job, but its not as nice)

the back part is super hard to install i think :P (but i dont know how the guy will get a dust free place in the mall for the instalation :P )

Posted by: tenorsaw

I got mine online for $13 shipped for the full body. Also, if you go to ilounge.com, they have another kit there that's comparable to the invisible shield for the same price. The installation is easy, especially because any bubbles you get will disappear over a few days, but go ahead if you can't be bothered.

best skins ever sell the same thing for a lot less. Howeher, they can be a bit tricky to install especially if you have never done it before, so I would say go for it and get the guys it install it for you. I highly recommend the product though!

I have used both the BSE and Invisibleshield products...and can say that the BSE product is agreeably made of the same kind of material as the Invisibleshield, put the pieces are not cut nearly as exactly, so the fit and finish is not as perfect as the Invisibleshield. Of course, the BSE is half the price...and if price is your main concern, and not how your iPhone looks...then by all means, go with the BSE.

Posted by: ruffdeezy

it's only 24.99 from the manufacturer. I am using it and it is excellent. I would get either invisible shield or bodyguardz. Best skins ever doesn't come with the application solution which makes them easier to put on.

Posted by: pballa2099

yeah invisible shield and BSE are the same exact material. But that seems fair if he's installing it for you also.

go here to get half off shield zone

I have the full but ended up only using the back and used the anti glare screen protector from apple for the front.

Posted by: amkls704

I wouldn't pay that. Just buy it from bestskinsever or something of the like. It really isn't that hard as long as you have the patience to do it. Just be careful and wipe off your phone first. I laid down an LCD rag and did it on top of that.

only if i found out about this site yesterday! I paid full price... haha, oh well

Thanks for all the great info. I just ordered mine online.... hope the 'free shipping' doesn't really take 2 weeks!

Posted by: khangul

is it true that if i buy the FULL Body Cover, i dont have to worry about it getting scratched or anything????

Posted by: rockyjr

That's what I have heard. I was at an Apple store the other day and one of the associates had it. He said it works great! (And he confirmed he got it online and that they don't have it at the Apple store.) I got a great leather holster at the flea market today and plan on using this shield thing....returning the 50 dollar leather case to Apple asap! LOL

I went ahead and paid the price. I ended up paying 27.02 for the invisibleshield and for them to install it. They did an excellent job and I didnt want to take the job on since I thought I might screw it up. I will post some pics when I get in tonight.

Cool. I am very interested in how the installed kit looks on the phone...especially in if the screen looks ok with the slight ripple texture of the Invisibleshield material. I have a Crystal Film screen protector coming from Apple.com in the next couple of days...so if the screen looks less bright and clear with the Invisibleshield film, I might just get it and put it on the back of my phone...and put the Crystal Film on the screen.

If you choose free shipping that will take about 2 weeks. When i paid for UPS ground took like 5 days which was long also. Not sure why they wont ship with USPS priority which will take bout 3 days.

I ended up taking ours off our phones a while back because it got discolored after a while. Don't know if anyone else had this problem?

When I bought my iMac in October he was trying to get me to get the warranty on it, and I had just come in to pick up my MacBook from being repaired and ended up buying a 24" iMac (darn those impulse buys! LOL) Either way...I already knew I was going to get the warranty on the iMac but I played it up. He was trying to talk me into buying the warranty for the MacBook too since the 1 yr was almost up. I told him I would buy the warranty on the MacBook if he threw in the warranty on the iMac at 50% off and then a pair of the Crystal Shield protectors (the anti-glare ones) and put them on for us. They did an excellent job and I can't believe he actually did it. I ended up paying just about 320 for two warranties on 2 computers and 2 free pairs of the screen protectors. I guess they'll do anything if you're buying 3,000 worth of crap. haha

Hi,
I'd have to echo what another user posted about the skins getting discolored... I have used both the Best Skins Ever and the Invisible Shield. I really liked both, but the staining/discoloration that happens to the skins (basically got black from the holster) was terrible.
just my two cents...
david

I ended up getting a Seidio Innocase, which is awesome.. http://www.seidioonline.com/index.a...PROD&ProdID=936

it doesn't add two much weight/bulk, still very good aesthetics, and has a nice tactile feel ( you still need to get a screen protector).

Posted by: turbo-sc

they're nothing short of amazing...

if you want to save yourself some money, you can get the BestSkinsEver... it's practically the same stuff.

Posted by: andrew110

I had an invisibleshield on my iphone since around october, I removed it last week because I didn't do the best job installing it and the corners were bubbled up and it just looked nasty. It did an amazing job protecting my phone though, it looked like I just removed it from the box after removing the skin.

After reading that bestskinsever was the same material I ordered that this time around to save $15 and installed it 2 days ago. I don't like to brag but I think I did a damn good job putting it on this time. Everything is centered and there are no visible flaws. Highly recommend the bestskinsever.

For the people talking about discoloration, I don't know what to tell you, I never experienced it. I didn't have a case though I just put it in my pocket. I really don't get the point of a case when using these skins.

I've had my BestSkinsEver on my iPhone since launch, and it's still the same as it was ( minus the lint buildup on the corners, but that's to be expected )

I've also purchased a BestSkinsEver full body cause that's on my MacBookPro and it's amazing... one of the best investments I've made towards the protection of my shiny expensive devices

I use a holster (some might call a case), as it is much more convenient than having to dig into the pocket all of the time... especially when wearing jeans. For me, the skin was more to keep it from getting scratched or for slight protection if dropped. The skin on the screen was also very nice because it did a great job of repelling fingerprints.

The discoloration didn't happen right away, but within a couple of months...

Posted by: ddiokno

Wow, the invisible shield used to be much more expensive... it is currently $7 for just the face, $12 for the full body. Don't know if this is temporary or new pricing (old price is crossed out in red-but still showing, with new price bold/black). Maybe this is to compete with BSE and the other skins out there?

http://www.invisibleshield.com/smar...pple/iphone.php

Posted by: PhanTuhC

I don't know why people buy the full body protection. All i care about is the screen.

Posted by: xpolarbearx

theres no reason to spend so much on those skins... the BSE is pretty much the same thing at 1/3 the price, you can get 3 full body skins for one of theirs! I have it on all my apple products and won't use anything else.

Posted by: Sesshoumaru

how much is the BSE now ? 7 for screen and 13 for full seems cheap :P

pd: you want a full body to keep scratches off the crome border and the crome apple :P

and to protect the whole body too, from scratches, and from falling from your hand (you get better grip with the shield :P )

Posted by: xpolarbearx

its 7.99 for a BSE total body skin

Posted by: rock1965

I bought my from BSE. Came in the mail rather quick. Didn't even realize it would come in a regular standard white envelope. I am going to install it this week once I recieve my Iphone in the mail on Monday.

THose who have removed their skin from their Iphones.... Is it an easy removal? Does it leave any type of adhesive? This is my only concern if I don't like the skin.

Posted by: rockyjr

I got the invisible shield for the 1/2 off special with free shipping. I got it in 3 days. I put it on and let it set, with my phone off, for 24 hours. It was hard to wait! LOL Putting it on was okay, but I wish I had watched the video first. I really like the feel of it on my phone. It is rubbery and seems much less likely that I will drop it.

Has anyone removed one of these? Can it be reapplied easily? I messed up the home button and it looks awful.

Does anyone know if these type of shields effect Apple's warranty?

Posted by: Sesshoumaru

i removed parts of it and re aplied with no problem, but the home button remains ugly, i re aplied it 3 times always failing to do it correctly :P

i bought invisible shield cause it had fre shiping to argenitna :P

Posted by: rockyjr

Thanks for the quick reply! Have you left the home button shield on or off? I am thinking of taking it off and leaving it off.

Posted by: xxfirerican

has anyone taken off yet i remeber when i took a skin off my prada phone there was sticky residue all over is this the case with the iphone ones as well. have a best skin ever sitting on my desk debating putting it on

Posted by: Sesshoumaru

there wasnt residue on the part i removed and reaplied (like a month after the initial install).

pd: my home button is shielded, after a few weeks it got a little better on the looks side:P

Posted by: andrew110

I had my invisibleshield on around 4 months before taking it off. It left no residue or any other signs of it being on there. I just started from a corner and pulled it off. Wasn't too bad.

Posted by: I2icky

There's no residue whatsover. You'd really be surprised as to how easy it is to peel off.

As for applying it on, it definitely is kinda hard the first time you try, especially the corners and the back piece. I ordered a second one cause I kinda messed up the back piece of my first one.

But since i got the BSE, getting 2 was still cheaper than one invisible shield

Posted by: Sesshoumaru

any tip for a correct and allingned instalation of the back part ? :P

Posted by: andrew110

I used the cut out for the camera as a little guide. Other than that not really. Just patience.

Posted by: rock1965

I must admit, BSE and Invisashield is worth it. The front shield and a little strip were off a little. I took it back off a day later and reapplied it with no problem. Now it is perfect!

Posted by: xxfirerican

so i have had the best skin ever on front of the iphone and it rocks the back however is another story, i had to order another set because i totally got frustrated trying to do the back part that i ripped it and through it away. how long does it take to get the back to work? i was patient and took forever and it just seemed the corners would not go down on the dam thing no matter what i did, any advice??

It took me about an hour to get it on with the corners down. One of the corners would not stay down and I just held it down until it did. I also used a hair dryer to heat up the corners a bit and it helped keep the corners down.

There are several videos on YouTube that also helped me along the way.

Posted by: chasehx

I swear by Invisible Shield for all my devices.

Posted by: rock1965

I had emailed BSE regarding the removal and reapply process to correct the alignment of the front shield. I recieved an email from them saying that it wasn't suggested to remove and reapply, so they sent me a complimentary complete replacement.

All I can say is WOW!!!!!! BSE rocks!

Posted by: Calculon

I got myself a Protech last July and it has been an excellent protective shield. I haven't had any discoloration or bubbles either.

Is this just for the screen?

For those who took off the shield, why did you remove it? Did you replace it? I was thinking of getting the invisibleshield but wondering if people ultimately decided they didn't want it or found a solution they like better.
thanks.

Posted by: snypaz

I have it on the back of my phone and the corners of the front bezel. I didn't like the feel of the screen protector so I'm using the anti-glare one instead. The invisibleshield gives the back a little more grip so it's less prone to dropping. It looks great and still protects without the bulkiness of a case!

Posted by: sportsfreak2159

get BestSkinsEver, exact same thing except w/o pe packaged solution...they tell u how to make the solution (water and soap

Posted by: hookups

i took the back of my invisible shield cause two of the corners came off and it was annoying having them flap around. not to mentioni there was quite a bit of dirt/lint build up that made the phone look gross. i left the front on and debating on putting on another back.
