but not large ones per-say.

in the past I have enjoyed the 8800/01 and recently picked up an E51 recently.

both hones have weight, size and a metal casing on their side. I really enjoy all the features of the phones, aside from the somewhat poor battery life of the 8801.

what other GSM phones have weight (but not necessarily size as well) on their side?

what about metal phones in general? (except LG's...

The iPhone is fairly hefty at 136g. It is in the middle of the range for size, but very pocketable due to thinness and nicely rounded corners.

Nokia 6500 Slide (metal housing) but compact slider.

It fits in my pocket... isn't that what counts?

Haha, except compared to an 8800, its a monster.

I have a heavy phone- but that is because it is from 2005.. I was always going to get a lighter one, but it has never happened.I sometimes think the heavier ones are more sturdy, but honestly, I hate heavy phones.

I'm with the OP, I love heavy (and often larger) phones, tiny phones always feel too small for my hands, even if I can operate them fine (the W810i was a good example). For instance, big phones like the Treo, N95, BB are all good IMO. Heavy phones FTW!

You mentioned no LG, but the LG Shine is a pretty heavy solid feeling phone, although the fact that it is a finger print magnet is a big turn off for me.
